Chapter 1582

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1582:

? ? ? ? ?

Nicole took a deep breath, her heart racing. “So you informed your father, right?”

“Unfortunately, yes,” Callie admitted, her face etched with remorse. “I'm sorry. Do whatever you want with me, but please forgive me my father. Losing him would tear our family apart. My grandparents and I would be vulnerable…”

Callie's voice cracked, the sincerity evident in her words. Her fragile health, combined with her grandparents' inability to care for themselves, left her family vulnerable to exploitation.

Fortunately, Brett had committed himself to providing Callie with the best life possible, ensuring her well-being and managing her illness. Their lives had been steadily improving before the police arrived. Upon learning of the police chase, Brett reluctantly revealed that he was wanted by the authorities.

Brett kept quiet about the details, but Callie understood the critical importance of keeping his location a secret. As long as he remained hidden, she could continue to look out for them.

Nicole thought for a moment before speaking. “Do you know why we're looking for your father?”

Callie shook her head.

"Your father was the last person my father spoke to before he died. I need to find your father to close the case."

Callie's eyes snapped open and her voice shook slightly. “What does this have to do with my father?”

“I wish it weren't like that,” Nicole replied, a trace of bitterness in her tone. “But the evidence implies him directly. My father didn't commit suicide. “He was murdered.”

Callie's jaw dropped. The thought of her father being involved in a murder, and not just any murder, but that of Wesson, the man who had shown so much kindness to her family, was almost unbearable.

“How can this be?” Callie murmured. “My father… He wouldn't do something like this. “He’s a good man, a truly good man… This has to be a mistake.”

Callie turned to Nicole, her hands shaking as she clung to Nicole's arms. “You know my father. You know he's compassionate and kind. How could he commit such a crime? Do you really think I murdered your father?”

Nicole won at Callie's grip, but held onto her shaking form. “I wish it were otherwise. But only your father holds the truth. Maybe he was coerced or manipulated. Either way, he’s the key to solving this mystery.”

“Callie, I need my father’s mysterious death solved,” Nicole pleaded earnestly. “If you're willing to help me, I'll be eternally grateful. And if you choose to protect your father, I'll understand. However, I hope you'll see that Brett doesn't deserve a life in hiding. A warrant is coming out for your arrest. You must decide whether he should run or face the truth.”

Nicole voiced her thoughts, leaving the rest to Callie's conscience. She refrained from imposing a decision on her, trusting in Callie's integrity, certain that she would choose the morally upright path, given Callie's past character.

Nicole recognized Callie's inherent kindness and honesty.

After escorting Callie to the police station to make her statement, Nicole walked her back home. When Callie got out of the car, they were greeted by an elderly woman shuffling over with the aid of a cane.

As Nicole was about to leave, Callie's grandmother, Laurie, appeared, brandishing her cane. "You kidnapped my granddaughter?" she shouted angrily.

Seeing this, Callie quickly intervened, grabbing the cane to stop her. “Grandma, no! “She saved me.”

Laurie was still unconvinced. She fixed her gaze on Nicole and said accusingly, “I remember you. You were looking for my son the other day. Are you trying to hurt him? Now that you can't locate him, you're focusing on Callie, aren't you? You're such a vicious woman! Why do you want to hurt us?”
