Chapter 1576:

The white car slowly drove towards a deserted area. Keeping a safe distance, Nicole turned off her headlights to avoid being detected.
However, as the white car entered the deserted area, Nicole lost sight of it at a fork in the road. To avoid being spotted, she kept her distance.
She stopped by the side of the road and checked the tire tracks to determine the route. Fortunately, these rural roads were all one-way, making it difficult to lose the trail. Nicole confirmed the route, got back in the car, and continued following.
Unexpectedly, Nicole saw the white car again after driving a short distance. Thanks to her silent electric car and dim lights, she went unnoticed. She stopped the car carefully, blending into the night, making sure not to be too close to be seen.
However, the white car stopped and did not move.
The driver noticed Callie was wearing a mask, but admired her beautiful eyes. He started to tease her and asked, âLittle girl, where are you going so late?â
Callie cautiously replied, âIâm going to find my dad.â
âLooking for your father?â the driver asked, laughing. âIt's very late and your father isn't home. Have I gone out to play or do something else?â
Callie felt uncomfortable talking to the driver, especially with his vulgar smile that gave her the creeps. She lowered her head and answered quietly, "My father is working."
âOh, your father is working, and he lets you, his precious daughter, go out so late to pick him up? âHow careless.â As the driver spoke, his eyes were not on the road but fixed on his chest, his laughter lascivious and disturbing.
Fear began to creep into Callie's mind. She ducked her head and fumbled with her phone, intending to text her father. Just as she began to type, the driver suddenly sped up and slammed on the brakes.
Callie's head hit the back of the front seat and the phone slipped from her hand. âAhâ¦â she cried out softly in pain.
Feigning concern, the driver asked, âAre you okay?â
Callie held her head aching, but didn't dare confront him. She frowned and replied softly, "I'm fine."
âOkay, then Iâll drive slower,â the driver said.
Taking a deep breath, Callie began searching for her phone. She saw that it had slid all the way to the back of the front seat. She carefully bent down to grab it, but as the car moved, the phone kept sliding forward. Realizing that she wouldn't be able to get it back unless the car stopped, she cautiously asked, âSir, could you please stop the car so I can get my phone?â
The driver looked uncomfortable. âThere are traffic cameras here. âWe canât stop or weâll get a ticket.â
Callie wasn't sure if there were traffic cameras, but she noticed that the road was getting darker while the current area still had some light. Her fear intensified. âSir, could you please stop the car for a moment?â Her voice was small and timid.
âHey, why are you being so difficult?â the driver grumbled, frowning. âDo you realize how much the fine is if we stop here? âI wonât stop you from picking up the phone.â
Callie felt a surge of fear and couldn't muster the courage to answer. All she wanted was to pick up the phone and feel safe. She wished her father would come and join her.
He took a deep breath and tried again: âSir, could you please stop the car for a moment? I'll pay the fine. I'm afraid my father will call and I won't be able to answer. âHe might get worried.â
