Chapter 1549

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1549:

? ? ? ? ?

Nicole's concern for Roscoe's safety in the care of these bodyguards was not unfounded.

Just now, in the presence of her and Jarrod, one of the bodyguards had dared to release Roscoe at the critical moment.

She wasn't sure if they would overdo it in her and Jarrod's absence.

Recognizing Nicole as Jarrod's wife, the bodyguards did not slack their diligence. "Yes, ma'am," they replied.

Nicole acknowledged, certain that her status as Jarrod's wife reinforced her obedience.

Roscoe's expression briefly showed sadness, which he quickly hid.

Turning to Roscoe, Nicole commented, “See you at Ardlens.” Her voice was clear and firm, making sure the bodyguards understood the gravity of her directive.

Roscoe subtly agreed. He watched silently as Nicole boarded the helicopter, hiding his emotions.

Inside the helicopter, the air was tense and cold. Jarrod's presence was cold and silent, adding to the chill.

Nicole sat silently, clearly feeling uncomfortable. Jarrod's coldness was unlike anything she had ever seen before.

She was familiar with his many facets—whether it was his violence, his warmth toward others, or his carefree demeanor toward her—but this icy, distant attitude was new.

Nicole also thought of Alec, whose importance to Jarrod had grown considerably since they both lost their parents. Alec, as a family member to Jarrod, was central to his life.

Nicole couldn't help but feel a deep sense of responsibility, considering the serious risk of injury to Alec. She could have warned Jarrod earlier to prevent him from falling from the tree.

However, at that crucial moment, his attention was completely focused on Roscoe, whom the bodyguard had left defenseless.

This made Nicole feel guilty, no matter what decisions she had made. The relief of knowing that Alec was still alive was a small consolation. His death would have been too painful.

The weight of silence hung over Jarrod and Nicole all the way to the hospital.

There, after examining Alec, the doctor gave a grave prognosis.

"Mr. Schultz, this gentleman is seriously injured, but fortunately his arm was amputated in time. Otherwise he would never have regained consciousness."

“Make sure he survives at all costs,” Jarrod ordered icily.

The doors to the operating room were firmly closed, preventing any vision for several hours.

When the doctor finally announced that the operation was over, Nicole's mind drifted away. The news that Alec was no longer in immediate danger gave her a deep sense of relief.

Alec was then transferred to the intensive care unit for further monitoring.

Shortly afterward, Jarrod abruptly left, delegating the task of communicating with Nicole to another assistant. The assistant told her that Jarrod had decided it was best for her to go home. Alec wouldn't want her there when he woke up.

Nicole felt a little left out and returned to the villa. There, she washed away the stress of the day with a shower before deciding to see Austin.

That night, after reciting a story to Austin, Nicole found herself staring at her pale lips, deep in thought.
