Chapter 1522

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1522:

? ? ? ? ?

“Nicole, if they found out I helped you escape, they'll kill me no matter what. There’s no need for both of us to meet our end so soon, is there?” Roscoe's eyes met Nicole's, his gentleness underlined by determination. “Get out of here and go on living. Think of Austin…He needs you.”

Nicole's eyes filled with tears. "Why are you doing this?" Why would she knowingly put herself in such danger? She couldn't understand it.

Roscoe couldn't reveal the whole truth yet. He had made a deal with a foreign family to eradicate these witches in exchange for their help in dismantling the Watts family's international operations. It was the only way to free himself from Miguel's clutches and ensure Nicole and Austin's safety more effectively.

The mere thought of not being able to protect Nicole and Austin pierced Roscoe's heart like a dagger.

Roscoe felt devastated every time he recalled being coerced into marrying Doreen while under the influence of those mind-controlling parasites, thus betraying his promise to Nicole.

When she came to and learned this harsh truth, the agony was unbearable. All her efforts and sacrifices seemed in vain. She accepted Nicole's decision to marry Jarrod without rancor, understanding her need to protect Austin and her mother. Her responsibilities were too great for her to bear alone.

Roscoe sighed and realized that he and Nicole might never reconcile in this life, but as long as he lived, he vowed to protect Nicole and Austin in every way possible.

He held a deep hatred for the Watts family, resenting them for exploiting him and harming those he loved. Gaining complete control over the Watts was essential. Without it, he would remain a constant threat to everyone around him.

It just so happened that the witches had inadvertently harmed a young heir of a prominent foreign family while he was abroad. When the witch escaped to Ambrosia, the foreign family was powerless to exact revenge until they identified Emerie as one of those witches and approached Roscoe, eventually coming to terms with him.

Roscoe's current mental clarity was the result of a biology teacher from that foreign family, who had devised an antidote to counteract the influence of the parasites. Without this antidote, Roscoe knew he would not have survived much longer.

Roscoe chose to keep Nicole out of these dangers. He was prepared to face them on his own, refusing to allow her to be drawn into this dangerous world. Involving her would be totally unforgivable.

“Nicole, you are probably unaware of my ambitions,” Roscoe said, his face shadowed but illuminated by the flickering light, a bitter, almost mocking smile playing on his lips. “I intend to take control of the entire Watts family. After all the torment and persecution they have subjected me to, they deserve to pay, don't you think?”

Nicole could only imagine the depths of suffering Roscoe had hardened at the hands of the Watts, although she refrained from asking about the specific details of their cruelty.
