Despite Jarrod's defense, Alec still viewed Nicole as a witch, albeit a beautiful one.

“Sir, let me take a sample of whatever she gives you and have it tested. If it is clean, I will kneel down and beg for forgiveness.” Alec thought that was a reasonable solution.

Since Jarrod didn't believe him, they could just test if any poisonous elements were detected.

“No need,” Jarrod replied coldly.

“How can you say that?” Before Alec could argue further, Jarrod interrupted. “Shut up and drive.”

Left with no other choice, Alec grumbled as he drove, “Don't eat anything I give you. Better safe than sorry.”

Jarrod closed his eyes, ignoring Alec's complaints.

Arriving at the office, Jarrod asked, “How’s the investigation into Jamie going?”

“We have confirmed that Jamie has a sponsor with considerable resources who funded her extensive plastic surgery,” Alec informed him, handing him a file. “It cost a million dollars. “They have gambled it all.”

“Have you checked the account information?” Jarrod asked.

"Forks. It leads to an overseas bank account, but we can’t trace the owner,” Alec replied. Jarrod frowned, deep in thought.

Alec added: “Jamie is still in hospital, so it's unlikely that person will show up anytime soon. But it's just a matter of time, because…”

Alec paused, then handed Jarrod to hospital report. “This report proves that Jamie's injuries were not self-inflicted. She claims they were from a suicide attempt, but it looks like someone else caused them. No one can prove otherwise.”

Jarrod skimmed through the report. “It seems that whoever it was considered Jamie expendable and wanted to get rid of her.”

“That's what we assume.” Alec agreed.

“Keep an eye on him. “We need to find out who’s behind this,” Jarrod ordered. This was an invisible threat that could not be ignored.

Alec agreed and turned to leave, but Jarrod stopped him. “Any update on Roscoe?” Jarrod asked.

“Well, there is something off about him. Our investigation uncovered something shocking,” Alec revealed. “It turns out that Miguel had hired a witch just to keep an eye on Roscoe, and it seems that Roscoe was put under a spell that caused his erratic behavior.”
