Chapter 1505
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1505:
? ? ? ? ?
In reality, Jarrod could have chosen not to drink the hangover soup. He could have confronted Nicole, but he wanted to have her close by his side. Despite the uncertainties of its contents, he drank it anyway.
Alec had warned him that Jamie's poison worked slowly. Slow meant there was still time to spend with Nicole and their son. That was all that mattered.
At dawn the next day, Jarrod woke up and saw that Nicole was already up. He rushed downstairs to find her. He approached the housekeeper and asked, âHave you seen my wife?â
The housekeeper replied with a smile: âThe lady is in the kitchen, preparing your breakfast.â
Jarrod was stunned.
The housekeeper smiled. âSir, you are in for a treat. Madam is a great cook.â
Previously, Nicole's distant attitude had sent shivers through the house. Even Austin, the normally quiet and fragile boy, felt it. The villa lacked warmth and the staff often spoke in low voices.
Now, with Nicole actively preparing breakfast for Jarrod, it seemed like she was trying to bridge the gap in their strained relationship. Given Jarrod's deep affection for her, the housekeeper anticipated his joy. Although Jarrod usually hid his emotions, the housekeeper sensed his pleasure.
Entering the kitchen, Jarrod paused as Nicole busted about. It seemed surreal to him. He stood stock-still until Nicole saw him. She seemed cheerful, in a good mood. Seeing Jarrod in his pajamas, she gently suggested, âGo freshen up. âBreakfast will be ready shortly.â
Jarrod agreed. After freshening up and getting dressed, Jarrod joined Nicole and Austin at the breakfast table. The food was simple but appetizing: soy milk, sandwiches, and porridge, nutritious and prepared in the traditional way.
Austin, who was looking impatiently at the soy milk and snacks, asked in a low voice, âMom, can I have soy milk?â
As Jarrod picked up the ladle to serve Austin, Nicole stepped in. âNo, Austin, do you remember your restrictions?â
Austin knew it, but his desire was palpable. He pleaded softly, âJust a sip? Please.â
It was the first time he had made such a request, believing that a small sip would be harmless.
Seeing his son's longing, Jarrod intervened: "Let him drink just one sip. Nothing will happen."
âWhat do you mean, ânothingâs wrongâ?â Nicole said sharply, her gaze piercing. âDo you even understand how serious Austin is? âHe canât even take a sip.â
Jarrodâs hand stilled, the atmosphere at the table instantly chilling. Austin, feeling the weight of their gazes, whispered guiltily, âI won't drink it.â
