Chapter 1481
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1481:

Fortunately, this antiquated neighborhood had not been renovated for two decades and was now facing imminent demolition.
If they had arrived after the demolition, locating Brett's house might have been difficult.
Brett's house, located on the third floor, was an old, run-down apartment.
Nicole knocked timidly on the door, not knowing if Brett was still alive there after years of absence. If Brett had really been involved in his father's murder, he would have fled long ago.
An older woman with gray hair opened the door. âWho are you looking for?â
Nicole didn't recognize the woman and searched the interior for signs of Brett's presence to no avail. "Excuse me, is this where Brett resides?" she asked.
The woman gently shook her head. âI don't know Brett.â
A pang of disappointment washed over Nicole. She refused to give up and persisted, âHave he moved here recently?â
The woman gave a disjointed reply: âOnly my husband and I live here.â
Nicole asked again, "Do you know the whereabouts of the previous tenants?"
The woman looked absentmindedly at Nicole. âWhat did you mean?â I didnât quite understandâ¦â
âI mean the previous tenants,â Nicole raised her voice. âDo you have any information about their departure?â
The woman asked: âAre you asking for money? I'm afraid not. Please seek help elsewhere.â
The woman closed the door.
Nicole stood there, exasperated. It seemed Brett had moved on, leaving them in yet another dead end.
Ethel, equally perplexed, declared: "I will ask my associates if there is any record of Brett's family having left the country."
As a civil servant, Ethel lacked the authority to independently instigate such checks. Following strict protocols, she had to submit formal requests, which explained her immediate arrival after receiving Nicole's address.
âShall we proceed?â Nicole sighed, suggesting their departure.
As they made their way down the stairs at a leisurely pace, Ethel glanced at the third-floor apartment. There was a bag of trash by the door, which made her pause for thought before summarizing her descent.
