Nicole was surprised to see that Jarrod was still in the house. He appeared relaxed in casual attire, emerging from the study where he had surely been working for some time.

As Jarrod came down the stairs, he approached Nicole and gently smoothed her hair. “You haven't even brushed your hair properly. Why are you in such a hurry?”

Nicole felt a pang of anxiety. Her upcoming meeting with Ethel involved matters related to Jarrod, and she preferred to keep it under wraps. She paused briefly before answering,

"Raegan invited me to go shopping."

Jarrod's gaze flickered briefly. "I see.

I have decided not to try further. Instead, he accepted a bowl of soup from the maid, handing it to Nicole.

"This will help you replenish your energy. You spent quite a bit last night. Make sure you drink it before you go out."

Despite feeling defiant, Nicole was worried about raising suspicions and reluctantly accepted the bowl, drinking the soup quickly. “That's it.”

The maid then took the empty bowl away from her.

Jarrod then suggested, “Wait a minute. “I’ll change and take you.”

Nicole's heart raced. "No need."

“Hmm?” Jarrod paused, looking at her curiously.

Nicole clenched her fist and resisted elaboration. “I just don't want you to.”

After a brief pause, Jarrod said, “Okay, I’ll have the driver take you then.”

Nicole shook her head. “No, Raegan will send a car for me.”

This seemed to comfort Jarrod slightly, knowing that the Dixon family vehicle would be safe.

“Okay, you can go then.” Jarrod walked Nicole to the door and watched her get into the car.

Only when the vehicle had moved away and she was safely en route did Nicole allow herself to relax.

Nicole had planned wisely. Raegan's Serenity Villa was not far away and, following her earlier message, the Dixon family car had arrived just in time.

Nicole dialed Raegan's number. "Raegan, thanks. I'm on my way."

“Don't mention it. Just promise me you’ll let me know if anything comes up, okay?” Raegan voiced her concern.

She had recently learned of Nicole's marriage to Jarrod, a revelation that left her shocked and worried.
