Chapter 1461
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1461:
? ? ? ? ?
Even without Kamilah present, it wasn't like she was suddenly going to get a promotion or something. Why would the nanny, a woman in her fifties, put her life in danger for such a heinous act?
Ethel agreed and said, âVery well, I will send someone to find out.â
Shortly afterwards, Ethel returned and allowed the lawyer in. The nanny agreed to the meeting after learning that the lawyer was employed by her son.
The lawyer spent quite a bit of time discussing matters before leaving at the end of the allotted period.
Nicole immediately asked for the result.
âHe continues to refuse to talk,â the lawyer says. âHe insists that he acted independently. âI warned him of the repercussions that having a criminal record would have on his grandsonâs future, but he stood his ground.â
With a sigh, the lawyer shook his head. âFor her, it seems that money weighs more than the future.â
Nicole had enlisted the help of the nanny's son. Unlike his mother, he was more willing.
âI apologize, Miss,â said the son. âMy mother bought a house in my name. I sincerely believed that she had saved the money herself. I never thought that she would harm her son. âPerhaps we were too poor, and money is more important to her than anything else.â
âIt's not your fault, but I hope you can convince her to open up,â Nicole replies.
Blushing, the nanny's son assured her: "Don't worry. I am very ashamed and sorry. I will write to her and urge her to choose the right path."
Nicole valued integrity. Because the nanny's son was cooperative, she refrained from holding the family accountable for the nanny's actions.
However, the nanny may have been too afraid of destitution. She accepted the money and kept quiet.
Although Nicole might consider using the money to extract the truth, once the money is exchanged, Vicki's lawyer could use it against her. They could argue that Nicole was trying to bribe the defendant, which could backfire.
The Hampton family, with their vast resources, was formidable. Although Vicki was not the sole heir, the affair tarnished the family's reputation.
Wayne would do everything in his power to conceal the truth, forcing Nicole to act cautiously and avoid any influence over the Hampton family lawyer. At the moment, pursuing the nanny seemed a futile strategy. She would have to explore alternative avenues.
Since Ethel was still on duty, Nicole decided to leave.
Outside, Nicole watched as Vicki climbed into a luxury vehicle.
Vicki stopped as she looked at Nicole, her expression smug. âNicole, did you feel victorious yesterday, thinking you could overthrow me? Are you disappointed today? Vicki mocked.
Nicole shook her head. âNot at all.â
