Chapter 1460
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1460:
? ? ? ? ?
Ethel shook her head, the weight of yesterday's events still fresh in her mind. A look of disgust crossed her face. Vicki was ruthless, even with a child. She turned serious. âBut you might not be able to see her. âThe Hamptons lawyer is already arranging for her bail as we speak.â
Nicole wasn't surprised. She had anticipated it. Wealthy families like the Hamptons always had top-notch lawyers on staff, and since no one had died, bail was almost guaranteed. If they didn't have so much power, Vicki wouldn't be so bold.
"And they're blaming the babysitter for everything, right?" Nicole asked.
"The Hampton family's attorney supports this claim. I wish I could share more, but that's all for now," Ethel said.
Nicole agreed. She could find out the details of the Hampton family lawyer's claim on her own. What Ethel had revealed could hardly be considered a leak of information. Besides, her presence here was not to see Vicki.
"I came to see the babysitter," Nicole said.
Ethel raised an eyebrow in surprise. âThe nanny?â
"Yes, I need to talk to her."
âHave you filed a request? Only lawyers have unlimited access to suspects,â Ethel replied.
"I brought a lawyer with me, although I'm not sure she'd agree to meet with us."
Nicole had indeed hired a lawyer to interact with the nanny, anticipating that the Hampton family had promised ample compensation for the nanny's silence. However, she was determined to move forward.
âIâll see if sheâs willing to meet,â Ethel offered.
"Could you pass him a message for me?"
âWhat's the message?â Ethel asked, her tone tinged with apprehension. She was concerned about legality. Some messages were precarious, especially if they were addressed to a suspect. Sometimes messages could have unforeseen implications.
"Rest assured, I won't make your job difficult. Just tell her that her son had hired the lawyer for her," Nicole told her.
That seemed harmless enough. After confirming that the applicant was indeed the son of the nanny who accompanied Nicole, Ethel realized that he, too, was looking for the truth about the nanny.
Ethel disapproved of wealthy people who believed that wealth could manipulate outcomes.
The nanny accused of harming Austin and Kamilah had no clear motive. Her salary was substantial and the fact that Kamilah was present to care for Austin had no bearing on her employment status.
