Chapter 1456

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1456:

? ? ? ? ?

Nicole was surprised. “Do you know me?”

“Yes, I saw your photo in a magazine covering the Lawrence Group’s annual meeting,” the officer replied.

The mention of the Lawrence Group's annual meeting seemed surreal to Nicole. It had been six years since her father's death. The name “Lawrence Group” seemed so far away…

"I apologize for not greeting you properly yesterday while I was on duty," the short-haired policewoman added.

“It's nothing. I didn’t expect you to remember the Lawrence Group,” Nicole said.

"I should remember. I was a beneficiary of the Lawrence Group's Project Hope," the policewoman said.

Nicole was not surprised. Her father had dedicated himself to helping children through Project Hope, and many of these children had grown up to make important contributions in various fields.

The agent introduced herself as Ethel Castro. She was relatively new to the force, full of enthusiasm and ambition for her job.

After an exchange of pleasantries, Ethel got to the point. “It's a coincidence that I'm here. “I wanted to talk to you about your father’s case,” Ethel said.

“What?” Nicole asked, bewildered.

Ethel seemed surprised. “I think there is more to it than has been revealed publicly.”

Ethel's statement shocked Nicole. Wasn't her father's suicide a fact? How could there be hidden details?

“What… My father… What he knows…” Nicole's heart raced, her words mixed in her anxiety.

"Don't worry, Miss Lawrence. I just have some suspicions and I wanted to talk to you about them," Ethel reassured her.

Ethel had only recently joined the force and was still at school when Nicole's father's death was reported to have been a suicide. Following the sudden death of her own father, Ethel's life spiraled downwards when her mother remarried and moved out, abandoning her to creditors who stripped her of her family's possessions.

Faced with the threat of having to drop out of school, Ethel's academic prowess and the intervention of her teacher led her to receive help from the Lawrence Family Hope Project. This help motivated Ethel to work hard and give back to society whenever she could.

By the time Ethel entered college at Ardlens, the Lawrence Group had disbanded. Nicole's father, known for his benevolence, had apparently committed suicide amid accusations of financial crimes, jumping from a building to escape prison.
