Chapter 1454

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1454:

Several employees quickly looked away and dispersed. As they turned the corner, the whispering resumed.

"Why is Alec so irritable?"

"But Mr. Schultz seems cheerful. Why is Alec in a bad mood?"

"Better not think about it. If Alec catches us, we'll be done for. Let's get back to work quickly."

Alec's expression was serious, having recently left the PR department. Moments earlier, Jarrod had tasked Alec with spreading the news of his and Vicki's broken engagement.

The Schultz and Hampton families were still working together. This news would undoubtedly have a significant impact. Although it was Jarrod's personal business, its repercussions would undoubtedly loom large over the company.

If Vicki caused any commotion, the Schultz Group's carefully crafted reputation would surely plummet. Alec fervently hoped for Vicki's discretion, praying that she would refrain from instigating any unrest. The prospect was unbearable.

Yet, looking at Vicki, Alec could not help but regret his ineffectiveness. He had held her in high regard, expecting her as Jarrod's future wife. His final defeat was an unexpected blow.

Entering Jarrod's office, Alec found him engrossed in reviewing the proposal on his computer screen and giving him his feedback. Hearing Alec’s entrance, Jarrod remained focused on his task, not bothering to look up as he asked, “Have you sent it?”

"Preparations are complete. The scheduled time is two o'clock," Alec replied.

Jarrod didn't object. Unless it was urgent, the PR department usually assigned a suitable deadline. A hint of dissatisfaction lingered in Alec's tone. "Mr. Schultz, time is of the essence. Cutting off our cooperation with the Hampton family while we are announcing this information will cost us a fortune."

Jarrod raised an eyebrow. “Are you suggesting we wait until the originally planned wedding day to disclose it?”

In truth, the impending wedding date known to the public left little room for delay. If they postponed the announcement any further, time would pass quickly. Alec was unaware of the latest developments in the country over the past two days, so he did not understand why Jarrod was so quick to call off the engagement. I have speculated that something important must have happened.

Before Alec could ask, Jarrod made a momentous revelation. “Vicki has been arrested.”

Jarrod ordered, “Go to the police station to get the Hampton family’s response and come back with a report.”

Alec was stunned. What had happened? He had simply been away for a few days, and Vicki was already in custody. It was no wonder Jarrod wanted to call off the engagement quickly. Alec refrained from making further inquiries, confident that he could obtain accurate information on his visit to the police station.
