Chapter 1447:

Vicki looked down and replied, âI won't. I promise. âI really wonât.â
Nicole giggled. âMiss Hampton, a promise from someone who can't be trusted is worthless. I won't believe you. From now on, I will do everything I can to protect my loved ones. Even if you wield great power and run away this time, we're not done here.â
âAh! âIâll kill you!â In a fit of rage, Vicki jumped up, trying to strangle Nicole.
But before Vicki could lay hands on Nicole, the young police officer intervened. She warned her firmly: âMiss Hampton, control yourself. Cooperate with us. This is your first warning.â
This was news to Vicki. The Hampton family had always dealt with their minor problems. She had never been to the police station and did not believe this incident was serious. She did not understand the gravity of attempted murder.
Vicki screamed like a madwoman, âDo you know who I am? I am a well-known young lady in Ardlens. If I am arrested by mistake, how will they compensate me for my losses?â
The officers ignored her, and one of them said sternly, "Second warning."
"Are you fucking deaf? Didn't you hear what I just said?"
"Third warning. Take her away."
At the boss's order, two officers escorted Vicki to the car. Vicki continued to rant: "How dare you! You will regret this! Don't touch me⦠Do you know the value of this dress? It's worth more than your annual salaryâ¦"
Vicki's voice faded into the distance as the car pulled away. Nicole's expression was icy. She had learned the type of person Vicki was from their previous encounters. Vicki wouldn't let this go and she was sure she would retaliate. She knew she had to be prepared.
Nicole drove the villa car to the hospital. When she reached the ward, she saw Jarrod's tall figure standing by the door.
Nicole came over and asked, âHow are you?â
Jarrod replied: âDon't worry. The specialists are still consulting with her.â
After speaking, he put the suit jacket he was wearing over his shoulders.
When Jarrod looked down, he noticed goosebumps on Nicole's neck. She was scantily clad, and the hospital air conditioning made him shiver. Nicole was concerned about Kamilah's plight, too exhausted to object when Jarrod offered her his jacket. Jarrod seemed glad of her lack of resistance, his smile unwavering.
The consultation with the specialist lasted almost three hours and concluded with the decision to undergo blood purification therapy, a long and complex blood transfusion process.
The outcome was uncertain. Kamilah might never regain her independence, and at worst she would live a life of dependency. Tears welled up in Nicole's eyes as her resentment toward Vicki grew. Vicki had destroyed a life without remorse.
