Chapter 1446:

The officer smoothed his uniform and replied, âDid I misspoke? By your logic, couldnât I say that you were making inappropriate advances toward me?â
The young officer's sharp retort left Vicki speechless. Nicole watched the exchange with a mocking smile. "Miss Hampton, do you still think these officers are like your household staff, to be bossed around as they please?"
Seeing Nicole, the same one who had involved the authorities, Vicki's anger erupted. She pointed at Nicole and accused: "She's a murderer! She tried to kill me! Why don't you arrest her?"
The officers on duty considered Vicki a troublemaker. Based on the evidence, it appeared that Nicole was actually the victim. Vicki rambled wildly, sounding unhinged as she exclaimed, âThey're no good! âThey hurt people and then blame me.â
Despite Vicki's absurd claims, Nicole noticed the fear in her eyes. Nicole softly called her name and asked, "Are you regretting this?"
Vicki's face changed, her eyes wide as she stared at Nicole. In a distant tone, Nicole stated, âIf you hadn't constantly used Austin to threaten me, I wouldn't have ended up marrying Jarrod.â
âManipulative woman!â Vicki screamed, âYou're exploiting Jarrod to get back at me, aren't you?â
"Forks." Nicole didn't bother to hide her motives. If Vicki hadn't been so persistent in attacking Austin and Kamilah, she wouldn't have felt obligated to marry Jarrod. Now tied down by her marriage, leaving Jarrod would be difficult.
Vicki was stunned by Nicole's blunt confession. She said wickedly, "Jarrod will never forgive you. Do you think you can just use him and walk away?"
âDo you think he doesn't know?â Nicole replied calmly. Her words hit Vicki more deeply than the revelation of her marriage. The impact was devastating.
In Vicki's opinion, the fact that Jarrod, always so calm, made such a decision knowing Nicole's intentions was truly terrifying. His sacrifice for Nicole seemed unparalleled.
Vicki felt genuine regret. Had she known better, she would have stayed out of it and not come between Nicole and Austin. Then, she could still be happily anticipating her own wedding.
Desperation filled her eyes and Vicki blurted out, âDivorce him now. If you leave him, I'll pay you a lot of money. Get out of this country with Austin. Would you consider it?â
Nicole scoffed. âMiss Hampton, are you serious? Orâ¦â
Nicole hesitated and then asked, âAfter this, he won't see us as irritating and try to eliminate us or set traps for us, right?â
Vicki was surprised that Nicole had guessed her intentions. Deep down, she felt that Nicole and Austin were a nuisance to her. She couldn't stand the idea of ââthem being alive. Because as long as they were around, Jarrod would never be completely hers. But she would never admit that out loud.
