Chapter 1396
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1396:
? ? ? ? ?
Despite not understanding her origins, Nicole knew she needed Jemma's kindness now more than ever.
âWhat do you need me to do?â Jemma asked.
Nicole replied, âIâm going into that chamber. I'm not sure how it will all play out. If I break a glass, you have toâ¦â
I have paused before finishing. âCall Jarrod for me.â
Jemma reacted with surprise. âYou mean Mr. Schultz? Do you want me to call him?â
âYes,â Nicole said with a deep look. âCall him.â
Jemma was well aware of the complex history between Nicole and Jarrod.
I have heard numerous stories about their relationship. Although these stories varied, some elements were always true.
Using these fragments, Jemma had constructed a complete narrative. From Nicole's point of view, her disdain for Jarrod was justifiable.
Yet Jarrod's insistence on keeping Nicole close spoke of another kind of affection. Both Jarrod and Nicole were too immature to distinguish love from disdain, unlike Jemma, with her vast experience, clearly understood. Fate, it seemed, revealed in her irony.
Given Jarrod's influence, allying with him could only benefit Nicole, providing her with security without any apparent risk.
And with Jarrod's protection, Jemma felt less of a burden for Nicole's safety.
With no children of her own and no father for Nicole, Jemma had decided to care for Nicole as if she were her own. She intended to entrust her entire estate to Nicole's administration.
âYou made a wise decision,â Jemma said. âJarrod may be tough, but his dedication to those he loves is unmatched. âHe protects his own, no matter the circumstances.â
Nicole remained silent, determined to take the risk.
Today she was determined to stop Vicki from becoming Jarrod's wife. As long as she was alive and without Austin's custody, she would not allow another woman to take on the role of Austin's stepmother.
After all, the Schultz family wealth was a dangerously seductive trap. Nicole couldn't be sure that other women wouldn't succumb to his charm. Interests often dictated actions. Initial agreements could give way to escalating greed over time. Austin could become a pawn, inadvertently inviting danger.
As Nicole was about to leave, she paused and turned to warn Jemma, âWhatever noises you hear, don't come in.â
Nicole had prepared to roll the camera. If Jemma came in, it could put everything in jeopardy.
âRemember, only call Jarrod if you hear glass breaking. Donât go in, no matter what the circumstances,â Nicole instructed Jemma firmly.
âDon't worry. âIâll keep it,â Jemma assured her.
When Nicole disappeared, anxiety set in. Jemma could hear the muffled sounds of a struggle emanating from the chamber, which increased her concern.
Several times she felt the urge to intervene, but she restrained herself as she remembered Nicole's instructions. She reminded herself to remain calm. Nicole was no fool. She must have had compelling reasons for acting like that.
Jemma knew she had to trust Nicole completely. After all, Nicole was the daughter of Wesson, a wise man.
