Chapter 1384
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1384:
? ? ? ? ?
Jarrod remained expressionless, he had clearly made his decision.
A vasectomy before marriage was, in fact, rare.
Noticing Jarrod's silence, Alec tried to persuade him. "Mr. Schultz, are you sure about this? Think about your family lineage. Families expand by having children. I'm sure your parents, who are watching over us from above, would want to see their family grow."
Alec consciously avoided any mention of Austin's fragile state, knowing that Jarrod wouldn't stand for it.
For Jarrod, Austin was his only child, and he had no intention of having any more. Typically reserved and distant, Jarrod didn't think he was cut out for fatherhood. That's why I planned to marry Vicki. He wanted to make sure there was someone to take care of Austin.
Jarrod had known Vicki for years. Unlike Doreen, Vicki had never done anything wrong. She was noticeably kinder.
Her gentle side made her the ideal candidate for motherhood.
Jarrod had also taken the precaution of drawing up a will, in which he placed Austin as his main heir, provided no unforeseen accident occurred.
This gave him the assurance that Vicki would never mistreat Austin. If anything happened to Austin, Vicki would be left without any support. He was sure that she would understand and act accordingly.
"There's no need for delay. Let Dr. Burton take care of it as soon as he can." Jarrod's decision to undergo a vasectomy was not fair about his marriage.
He was also driven by a fear of manipulation and the possibility of another child. He was unwilling to accept a child that had not been brought into the world by Nicole.
Alec tried to argue, but Jarrod remained unmoved, his silence a clear sign that his decision was final. Once Jarrod made up his mind, no one could change his mind.
However, Alec found it difficult to accept his decision. Even he, a man of means modest, understood the value of perpetuating the family line, whether through a son or a daughter. His wish was to bring a healthy child into the world.
Perhaps his longing had nothing to do with lineage, but rather with the testimony of his existence.
In Alec's book, Jarrod's choice seemed fraught with risk. However, since it wasn't his life, all he could do was respect the decision.
As Alec was about to leave to make the call, Jarrod shouted, âWait a minute.â
"What's wrong, sir?"
Jarrod instructed, âThat Vicki knew about this shocked Alec. Jarrod was planning a vasectomy and yet he wanted his future wife to be informed. âWas he trying to push her away?â
Jarrod just wanted to see if Vicki was serious.
He had explicitly told Vicki that he did not wish to have any more children in this life and had asked if she could commit to a life with him on that basis. Vicki had readily agreed, without reservation.
Rather than asking Vicki to undergo a female sterilization operation, which would entail a physical sacrifice, Jarrod respected her enough as his chosen partner not to impose such a demand on her. She decided to undergo a vasectomy.
By allowing Alec to leak the news to Vicki, Jarrod was giving him another chance. A chance to reconsider your decision.
Alec understood well that those who were determined to leave would do so no matter what. Nicole, for example. Jarrod had experienced this painfully with Nicole.
Despite his desperate efforts to hold her back, she coldly abandoned him. Revealing such critical news before Jarrod's wedding to Vicki seemed wise, as it would allow them to part amicably from the start if Vicki couldn't accept it.
Satisfied with Jarrod's decision, Alec agreed and walked out.
Meanwhile, Jarrod pulled out his phone and played Austin's video once more. Austin looked uncannily like him, with the same furrowed eyebrows and piercing eyes. However, he wondered if Austin shared his stoic demeanor.
Becoming a father had clarified many of his expectations. His relationship with Nicole was one of mutual destruction. Staying together meant tying each other up with ropes. Aware of the toxicity of their bond, Jarrod was determined to protect his son from her.
Since change was impossible, Jarrod chose to purge his thoughts of Nicole. Thinking about her only fueled his anger, jeopardizing his ability to remain a calm, rational father to Austin.
