Chapter 1383
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1383:
? ? ? ? ?
Nicole felt a surge of apprehension, but recognized that she didn't have much choice. She had to prioritize Austin and Kamilah's safety, even if it meant sacrificing her own pride.
However, she decided that if Vicki pushed her too hard, she would take drastic measures that would surprise even herself. She hoped it wouldn't come to that.
Back at the hospital, Jarrod finished his video meeting and was ordered by his doctor to go back to bed to rest.
Alec, seeing him, obediently reported, "Sir, Miss Lawrence called earlier, but I did not interrupt her meeting."
Jarrod's face, marked by impassive eyebrows and eyes, masked his inner thoughts, making them unreadable.
In the midst of the enveloping stillness, Alec broke the silence and declared, âMiss Lawrence asked to see the boy, but I refused her. Your son has just begun to smile again. âI donât want him to sink back into melancholy.â
Jarrod's reaction was muted, almost as if he agreed with Alec's decision.
Heaving a long sigh, Alec felt a weight lift off his shoulders.
He was sure that Jarrod, seriously injured this time, would no longer care about Nicole or show any further interest.
It wasn't just physical scars. Jarrod's heart had suffered, too.
An indifferent person like him, once hurt, would invariably withdraw into himself, exactly as he was doing now. He was desperate and heartbroken.
For a man, nothing hurts more than seeing the woman he loves, love another man.
Nicole had fallen in love with Roscoe, and forcing her to stay with Jarrod would only prolong her misery. Jarrod had shown restraint. He didn't annoy her too much, instead focusing his frustrations on Roscoe, who was commendable under the circumstances.
Jarrod didn't ask any questions, which made Alec bite his tongue.
Alec's repeated pleas to Nicole on Jarrod's behalf had fallen on deaf ears, which was truly heartbreaking.
As for the accusations that Vicki posed a threat to Austin, Alec remained vigilant. He kept a close eye on any potential danger to Austin.
Although he had yet to see any signs of malice from Vicki toward Austin, he remained alert, just in case.
Alec had deep reservations about Vicki. It wasn't enough to be momentarily decent. There had to be lasting kindness. Would Vicki really consider Austin her own, or would she change her mind when she had a child?
As Alec pondered these doubts, Jarrod asked abruptly, "Go ask Dr. Burton when I'm scheduled for surgery."
âSurgery?â Alec asked, his brow furrowed in confusion. âSir, what surgery are you referring to?â
With a calm expression, Jarrod simply said, âVasectomy.â
Alec was stunned. He gaped for a long moment before he stepped closer, his voice tinged with urgency. âWhy? Why?â
And how could Jarrod want a vasectomy?
Given Austin's poor health, it was unknown whether he would be able to grow without complications. If Jarrod went ahead with the vasectomy, what would happen if something happened to Austin?
Would the Schultz family then be left without an heir?
