Chapter 1369

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1369:

? ? ? ? ?

Meanwhile, Miguel arrived at the scene, bringing surprise. “What… how did this happen?” I have exclaimed.

"Sir, there's no need to pretend with me!" Alec snapped.

Miguel, trying to maintain his composure, replied coldly: "Alec, what do you mean? I don't understand."

Alec scoffed. “Interesting! Mr. Schultz gave me explicit instructions to pass on the message that Miss Lawrence was not to be touched. What is the meaning of this attack? This thick stick was meant to kill her, wasn't it?”

Miguel feigned confusion. “Alec, you are wrongly accusing me. I simply ordered that the thief caught at the banquet be punished according to our rules. Who would have guessed that the thief was Miss Lawrence? Why would Miss Lawrence steal anything?”

Disgusted by Miguel's farce, Alec spat on the ground. “Save it! Don't pretend you don't recognize Miss Lawrence. If you don’t know her, then doesn’t anyone in the Watts family know her?” he questioned, his tone full of contempt.

Alec was livid. Jarrod's condition was serious and his previous injuries had been aggravated by this new assault. Politeness was the last thing on anyone's mind now.

Miguel was really despicable. Miguel had to be there, since it was Roscoe's wedding. Didn't I recognize Nicole?

What nonsense.

Alec was fed up with dealing with Miguel. The old scoundrel was just spinning his wheels, wasting his time, and Alec couldn't afford to delay Jarrod's medical attention any longer. His back was soaked in Jarrod's blood and he couldn't afford any delays.

Alec picked Jarrod up and headed for the exit. Earlier, Jarrod had crashed his car into the gate, severely damaging the front end. It was an expensive vehicle, now in ruins.

Two bodyguards opened the doors as Alec placed Jarrod in the backseat, preparing to rush to the hospital.

Once inside the car, Alec sensed something was wrong. Nicole hadn't followed him. At first he thought she was being insensitive again, indifferent to Jarrod's serious condition.

Just as Alec was about to reprimand her, he noticed that the Watts family bodyguards were blocking her way out.

Turning to Miguel, Alec asked, “What does this mean?”

Miguel maintained his composure and stroked his beard with his hand as he addressed Alec, “Alec, the charge against Miss Lawrence for stealing my family heirloom remains ambiguous. “She will remain under observation for the time being.”

“Mr. Watts, have you thought about the repercussions?” Alec’s expression was icy, exuding an air reminiscent of Jarrod’s authoritative presence, commanding attention.

Miguel harbored a hint of fear within him, but outwardly he projected a calm facade. In his eyes, Alec was nothing more than an underling and counted for nothing.

Without the role of Jarrod's sidekick, Alec wouldn't even be worth a glance from him.

I would have fired Alec a long time ago.

Mr. Watts, I am an ordinary individual, unable to discern your current intentions. However, my boss possesses courage, wit and shrewdness. Do you really think that your facade will fool you? What are the chances?

Alec's words shook Miguel.

Miguel found himself drenched in cold sweat at that comment. Far from being stupid, Jarrod possessed remarkable intelligence and cunning. Furthermore, Jarrod was an expert at employing underhanded tactics.

Knowing that he couldn't take action against Nicole today, Miguel tried to ease the tension. "Alec, you've misread the situation. I stopped Miss Lawrence with noble intentions."

Miguel chuckled awkwardly, the creases of his eyes sharp as knives. “I intend to conduct a thorough investigation to exonerate Miss Lawrence. It’s unfair that she bears the stigma of a criminal record for such a major incident, isn’t it?”

Miguel had a silver tongue and his words had a persuasive charm. With years of experience in the field, I have handled such scenarios with ease.
