Chapter 1328
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1328:
? ? ? ? ?
Nicole, being sharp-witted, picked up on the concern in Jemma's words. In case she ever ran into them again, faking an illness and asking for sick leave seemed like a good option.
In a place rife with intrigue and conflict, Nicole was grateful for another woman's gesture of compassion.
He smiled and said to Jemma, âI understand. âIâll make sure I donât drag you into any trouble.â
Jemma looked at Nicole's smiling face and was momentarily taken back.
She looked uneasy and abruptly stopped smoking. She waved her hand, turned away and said, âI'm not trying to help you. Donât give it another thought.â
As Jemma walked away, Nicole kept a slight smile. She was now certain that Jemma was a good person. Although confused by Jemma's offer of help, she could still distinguish between genuine and false intentions.
Even after showering, Nicole couldn't stop thinking about Roscoe's business as she walked out.
She wanted Roscoe to be happy, but she didn't know if his memory loss was a blessing or a curse. If he hadn't lost his memory, Nicole was sure that Roscoe would have hardened to the end, never giving in to an unwanted marriage or the demands of the Watts family.
As she walked through the darkness, Nicole heard a conversation from the second floor, near the back door, about the Watts family.
Nicole paused to listen more carefully.
"The Watts family seems to value this illegitimate child very much."
«Illegitimate child? Ugh! "Roscoe is worse than that!"
"Oh, don't say that. That man means a lot to the Watts family. If you go around saying things like that, you might get into trouble with them."
"For him? No way."
"How can you say that?"
«I have a secret for you. It turns out that Roscoe's father, Miguel, hated Roscoe's biological mother because she was the one who ruined his reputation. On the surface, Miguel is nice to Roscoe, but the truth is that he just plans to make Roscoe a scapegoat.
The Watts family was involved in some shady dealings. With Roscoe now in charge, if any shady dealings are discovered, Roscoe will be the first to be targeted, and he will be in a bind since those dealings involve a significant amount of money.
âNo way. Roscoe is the last heir of the Watts family. They couldnât possibly operate without an heir, right?â
The other person, clearly intoxicated, slurred his words as he revealed everything he knew.
«You don't understand. Miguel is very clever. How could he leave the Watts family without an heir? Let me tell you. Before Miguel's eldest son died in that accident, samples of frozen sperm were taken, with which his wife managed to have twins.
They are being raised abroad as the legitimate heirs of the Watts family. Miguel has already focused on his eldest son's business abroad, making sure it runs smoothly and leaving the upkeep of the future heirs of the Watts family to his capable assistantâ¦â
The listener was shocked and said, âThe Watts family still keeps such a big secret? Don't tell me. Miguel is too sophisticated. âI thought he had only brought back an heir, but it turns out he just brought back a scapegoat!â
âMy father told me all this. His business has connections with the Watts family overseas. He ran into some members of the Watts family and learned the truth. But keep this a secret. I wouldn't want to cross paths with Miguel. Heâs a tough guy.â
"I understand. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." I won't tell anyone.
Nicole was shocked to learn these secrets about the Watts family. Her intuition was right. Miguel didn't care about Roscoe.
He had felt that Roscoe's future and well-being were of no concern to him. This was clear from the moment Miguel ordered someone to assault Roscoe, leaving him crippled.
If the conversation he had just overheard was true, then Miguel's actions made sense. But that meant that Roscoe, who had become the escapegoat, was in serious trouble.
Nicole massaged her temples. She hadn't had dinner and suddenly felt faint, falling to the floor. She tried to lean against the wall, but it made a noise.
Those above immediately became suspicious and shouted: "Who is down there!"
