Chapter 1321
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1321:
? ? ? ? ?
Miguel, surprised by Roscoe's question, searched Roscoe's expression, wondering if he was up to something.
Miguel had been quite pleased with the current Roscoe who had lost his memories. Roscoe was accommodating, a stark contrast to his former rebellious self who disregarded the interests of the Watts family and handed over vital documents regarding cooperation with the Schultz family, even eloping with Nicole.
Miguel was relieved by this more manageable version of Roscoe.
If it weren't for the doctor's warnings about the drug's adverse effects, Miguel would have continued the treatments indefinitely, ensuring that Roscoe would not regain the fragments of his memory loss.
The doctor had warned that Roscoe's memory loss was temporary and unpredictable and that Roscoe could regain his memories at any time, although it could also take years, or even decades.
Miguel had not anticipated that Roscoe would regain his memory so soon.
It had been such a short time. He stroked his beard and lied, âWhy would I deceive you? Remember, it was you who pursued Doreen. Now you're the one saying she's not good enough? You've tarnished her reputation. Who will marry her now?â
Roscoe remained skeptical. âI think I have better judgment. âI wouldnât want someone known for his cruelty.â
Miguel was speechless. He demanded that Roscoe apologize to Doreen, but Roscoe stood firm. âI haven't done anything wrong. I wonât apologize.â
Enraged, Miguel swung his cane at Roscoe, who quickly dodged him, causing Miguel to fall and subsequently be hospitalized.
Seeing Miguel later weakened, Roscoe relented a little and agreed to make an effort to get along with Doreen.
This birthday party marked Roscoe's first meeting with Doreen since that tumultuous argument.
Doreen, noticing Roscoe's distant attitude, gritted her teeth. Earlier she had noticed Roscoe's attention fixed on Nicole, which sparked jealousy and rage. Her plan had been to show Roscoe the degrading nature of Nicole's job.
However, Roscoe's current presence and the way he looked at Nicole only fueled Doreen's jealousy and anger.
Despite Nicole's modest uniform, Doreen looked at her with disdain, convinced that Nicole always looked seductive regardless of her outfit.
Trying to mask her frustration with the flirtation, Doreen said, âRoscoe, we're all waiting for you to blow out the candles.â
The sofa was a three-seater. With Vicki and Jarrod occupying one end, Roscoe had no choice but to sit next to Doreen.
As Nicole approached with a long lighter to light the candles, Doreen abruptly interrupted, her tone harsh as she ordered, âGive me the lighter.â
Nicole meekly passed the lighter to Doreen, who waved her hand dismissively and snapped, âGet out of the way!â
For Doreen, this was her moment, her birthday wish, and she wasn't going to let Nicole ruin it.
Nicole acknowledged the order and backed away to the corner. Despite her retreat, she could feel the weight of many eyes on her.
Nicole bowed her head, her eyes fixed on the ground. There were people in the crowd who wished her ill. Their gazes were fixed on her, intense and unwavering.
Doreen made her birthday wish and grabbed Roscoe's hand, cheerfully suggesting, "Roscoe, let's blow out the candles together, okay?"
Roscoe's response was a tense grip. Doreen felt the stiffness but didn't release her hold. Instead, he gripped her tighter. She understood the dynamic at play. Roscoe wouldn't dare let go of his hand in front of Jarrod, for fear of Jarrod's repercussions.
