Chapter 1319:

“Mm,” Jarrod replied nonchalantly.

“Please take a seat,” Doreen urged, her enthusiasm undiminished as she welcomed the woman behind him. “Vicki.”

Only then did Nicole realize that Jarrod and Vicki had arrived together.

Naturally, as Doreen's uncle, Jarrod's presence was expected at Doreen's birthday celebration.

Vicki, dressed in a light pink dress that accentuated her elegance and grace, seemed surprised to see Nicole. She covered her mouth in surprise, exclaiming, “Miss Lawrence, what are you doing here?”

Nicole reflected on how Vicki's acting skills had improved considerably, as she had become an expert at masking her true feelings.

“I’m working here,” Nicole replied tersely.

“Working?” Vicki looked surprised. “Miss Lawrence, do you need money? I remember you were a high achiever. How did you end up working here?”

"Every profession has its value. The truth is that this is quite satisfying for me," Nicole replied, maintaining her composure.

Vicki's tone softened. "Miss Lawrence, are you facing any difficulties?"

"No." Nicole smiled as she spoke, a hint of mockery in her eyes.

Impatiently, Doreen interrupted sharply: “Vicki, you know, some people are low by nature. They delight in serving in humble positions. Don't waste your breath trying to elevate them. They are happy here, serving a multitude of men without ever repeating.”

Nicole remained silent, but Vicki could barely contain her delight.

With her skill at masking her emotions, Vicki furrowed her eyebrows and scolded Doreen, “Don't talk nonsense.”

Then Vicki's expression softened into a slight smile. “I'm glad to hear that. If you ever have any difficulties, remember that you can tell me. Since you and Jarrod were classmates, I’m sure we can help you.”

Nicole agreed, but preferred not to add anything else.

Vicki, satisfied with how she had handled the situation, pulled out a gift box of jewelry and handed it to Doreen. “Doreen, this is a gift that your uncle and I have selected for you. Let’s see how you like it.”

Doreen accepted the box with excitement. “I love it! “I know I will like whatever you choose,” she exclaimed, opening the box to reveal a luxurious jade necklace from a high-end brand.

It wasn't just any item. To purchase it, you needed to be a diamond-level member.

The necklace fit Doreen's style perfectly, and she smiled. "Thanks, Auntie."

Vicki blushed slightly. “Doreen, don't call me that. It’s not yet.”

“It's not far. “You’ll be my aunt soon, and I’m getting used to it,” Doreen chimed playfully.

“Ah, you little rascal.” Vicki chuckled.

Doreen pulled Vicki to sit beside her before imperiously ordering, “Now, pour wine for my uncle and future aunt.”
