Chapter 1248
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1248:
? ? ? ? ?
âShut up!â Doreen was furious, not prepared for the lawyer's eloquent speech. He spoke using terms she didn't understand. But he showed her that this lawyer was not someone to be messed with.
"He insulted me too," Doreen said, her logic wavering.
"That's not true. I have it all on video," Rhett replied.
âYou!â Doreen was furious and speechless. She couldn't outwit the lawyer. I have talked so well. How could she win an argument against him?
Doreen grabbed Roscoe by the arm and pulled him closer. âRoscoe, are you just going to stand there and let them harass your girlfriend?â
Roscoe remained silent. He thought the lawyer's argument was reasonable.
Doreen was too pushy. It was ironic, considering that everyone said he used to be deeply in love with Doreen. He found it hard to believe he could ever have been attached to such a shallow woman.
Frustrated, Doreen stomped her foot and said, âRoscoe, didn't you promise my father that you would take care of me? âThat woman slapped me.â
Roscoe ignored her complaint and said, âGo in and find Jarrod. âHe should be here.â
Doreen was not happy.
Why did Roscoe always seem to change his stance around Nicole?
Rhett lost interest in the ongoing scene. He turned to Nicole and said, âPlease, Miss Lawrence.â
As Nicole climbed the stairs, she stopped, turned to Doreen, and declared coldly, "Besides, the man I love is not an adulterer. He is a decent, honest man who deserves my affection."
With that, he looked at Roscoe and continued his climb without stopping.
That look wasn't reproachful. At times like this, she felt afraid and long for someone to be by her side. But it was okay if she was alone. After all, she had long since gotten used to dealing with disappointment.
âUgh! âI see you donât care about me at all,â Doreen said bitterly.
Roscoe seemed not to hear her, his gaze fixed on Nicole as she climbed the steps. How could anyone make green look so elegant?
In the courtroom.
The trial was private, so only a few close relatives of the plaintiff and defendant were in the stands.
On Nicole's side, there was no one. She had decided not to involve her friends, like Raegan, to spare them worry, and she hadn't mentioned her lawsuit.
For the defendant's part, Jarrod was wearing elegant gold-rimmed glasses and his expensive suit made him look particularly dapper.
He didn't appear to be someone with a mental disorder based on his appearance alone. His eloquence and way of answering questions were calm and impeccable.
Someone like him was either very good at pretending or had no problems.
When it came time to show evidence, Rhett was the first to hand over a video, the scandalous one of the event that had shocked everyone in Ardlens.
