Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1238:
? ? ? ? ?
Nicole was aware of this. Otherwise, she would have already claimed her son.
"Miss Lawrence, are you sure Mr. Schultz has been on medication in the past few years?" Rhett asked.
âI'm sure,â Nicole confirmed with a nod.
She recalled seeing Jarrod constantly taking medication to control his manic episodes when they were together, a condition that had worsened after the death of his parents.
"Excellent. As long as we can verify Mr. Schultz's mental health, I'm confident we can win this case," Rhett assured him.
His impressive track record at the Dixon Group was a testament to his abilities. His decision to resign and study abroad was motivated by a desire to improve his knowledge and contribute more effectively to his country.
Rhett's words reassure Nicole and boost her confidence.
The legal proceedings moved slowly. By the time everything got underway, more than a month had passed.
During that time, Nicole often thought about Roscoe and wondered about his treatment.
One night, after leaving a restaurant with Rhett, Nicole stood on the side of the road waiting for a ride.
Suddenly, he saw a familiar face. It was Doreen.
Nicole tried to ignore her, but Doreen had already seen her.
âYou areâ¦â Doreen paused, trying to remember.
Nicole kept her eyes on her phone, waiting to be taken.
âYou're the woman who used to follow my uncle aroundâ¦â Doreen exclaimed loudly.
His tone was sharp, especially with so many people around at the entrance of the restaurant. It seemed like he was implying that Nicole was being kept as a mistress.
As expected, the gazes of passersby at Nicole were filled with curiosity and contemplation.
Doreen's intention was obvious. She despaired Nicole and took advantage of the moment to humiliate her.
Nicole replied firmly, âI have no relationship with Mr. Schultz, not now or ever.â If there ever was any relationship, it was only because they were Austin's biological parents.
âJarrodâs official partner has always been a member of the Hampton family,â Doreen scoffed. âI'm just being polite when I say you followed him around. In reality, you were just his mistress.â
Nicole's expression instantly cooled.
Doreen, seemingly oblivious, stared at Nicole's striking appearance and refused to soften her attack. âDon't act virtuous. You were merely my uncle's mistress, using your good looks to curry favor with the Lawrence family. Unfortunately, they are too weak to be of any useâ¦â
These words cut Nicole deeply. If Doreen knew the truth, she would not dare to say such nonsense. It was Jarrod's unyielding demands that had really undermined the Lawrence family.
Doreen misinterpreted Nicole's darkened face as a sign of defeat, which only fueled her satisfaction.
He crossed his arms and sneered, âLike father, like son. It seems your parents taught you little about morality, which explains why you meddle in other peopleâs relationships.â
