Chapter 1229

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1229:

? ? ? ? ?

Since he was a child, Austin had always been reserved and rarely shared his feelings, probably inheriting his father's temper.

The nanny knew there was only so much she could do. Nicole had told her that Austin's biological father was a cunning man with a strong desire for control.

Nicole had warned the nanny not to confront Jarrod if she ever came across him. If he was determined to take Austin, she should let him, knowing that he wouldn't hurt Austin but he would hurt others.

Fortunately, the nanny had acted prudently, grabbing a bunch of medications and pointing out that Austin was fragile and only she knew the proper dosage, so her presence at Austin's side was crucial.

Only then did Jarrod reluctantly agree to take her with him.

Once at the villa, the nanny got to know Jarrod better through those around him. Although he was strict, he generally kept to himself unless provoked, rules were broken, or boundaries were crossed.

Now that Austin had a fever, the nanny didn't want to challenge Jarrod directly. She quietly stepped aside, urging softly, “Mr. Schultz, Miss Lawrence you've been up all night. She needs to rest…”

Her voice trailed off under Jarrod's intense gaze and she fell silent.

Jarrod's tone was cold as ice. "Stick to your obligations. I'll only say this once."

The nanny stood helplessly as Jarrod led Nicole away, watching as he carefully raised his hand to shield Nicole's head from the door frame.

All the nanny could do was hope that Jarrod would treat Nicole kindly.

Carrying Nicole in his arms, Jarrod made his way to her room. He kicked open the door and gently laid her down on the large bed.

Suddenly, his arms felt strangely empty. He realized that he longed for the feeling of her small, compliant form against him just moments ago.

Lying on her side, Nicole was sleeping soundly, her disheveled hair partially covering her face and hiding her delicate features. Only her full, cherry-red lips of captivating beauty were visible.

Her lips, naturally crimson, stood out, delicate and charming.

Jarrod leaned toward her, fighting the urge to do more, and gently tucked her loose hair behind her ear.

After looking at her for a long time, he thought that she should remain this peaceful and obedient forever.

When the sound of the door closing faded, Nicole opened her eyes.

The next moment, Nicole headed barefoot to Jarrod's bedroom medicine cabinet.

Nicole knew that to regain custody of Austin she needed solid evidence. She remembered how Jarrod used to take those special pills to keep his mind balanced, but they came from a doctor he saw outside the regular hospital. He had never received a prescription from a hospital.

Proving that Jarrod was on psychiatric medication could prove that he was unfit to raise the child. Raising a child was risky for someone whose mental health could deteriorate at any time.

She couldn't find the medicine in the medicine cabinet. Stretching on her tiptoes, she tried to reach the top shelf to find the medicine cabinet, but it was too high.

With no other option, Nicole grabbed a stool to get the first aid kit.

As she reached for it, she forgot that she was still perched on the stool. She swayed and nearly fell. She silently covered her mouth, afraid that a scream might attract attention.
