Chapter 1226:
? ? ? ? ?
Just as he was deep in thought, his phone range. It was the villa maid. âMr. Schultz, your son has a high fever. He seems serious. âHe has fainted!â she said in a trembling voice.
The fragile image of Austin crossed Jarrod's mind, making him wonder how Austin could be so delicate that a simple fever could make him faint.
The maid continued urgently, âThe nanny who looks after him is crying and begging to be taken to the hospital. What should I do?â
The maid didn't dare to make decisions on her own, being only a servant responsible for Austin's daily needs. The bodyguards outside wouldn't let Austin leave. If the servant hadn't knelt down to emphasize the gravity of the situation, the maid wouldn't have made the decision.
Jarrod ordered without hesitation: âHave the GP take a look. Wait.â
He thought of something and quickly said, âHand the phone to the babysitter and have her make a call. Stay close and keep an eye on the time.â
âUnderstood, sir.â The maid was puzzled by Jarrod's sudden change of plans, but she had to follow his orders. She hurried upstairs, handed the phone to the nanny who was looking after Austin and relayed, âMr Schultz said you can make a call.â
The confused nanny asked nervously, "Why hasn't Mr. Schultz sent us to the hospital yet? Austin is so sick..."
The nanny saw Austin's flushed face and felt a pang of guilt, but she couldn't help it. âThis is your order. Are you going to make the call or not?â she asked firmly.
âYeah⦠yeah, Iâll call,â the nanny replied through gritted teeth. She knew Jarrod was forcing her to call Nicole. She had already told Austin that they needed to behave, avoid causing trouble, and not make Nicole worry about them.
The nanny never expected Austin to take her words into account and endure his discomfort in silence until he passed out of a high fever.
Terrified, the nanny abandoned her indecision and immediately called Nicole.
Nicole answered quickly, and hearing her voice, the nanny burst into tears. âMiss, Austinâ¦â
Nicole woke up in shock. âWhat happened to Austin?â
"Austin has a high fever and has fainted. Mr. Jarrod has not taken us to the hospital," said the nanny between sobs.
Nicole's chest tightened.
After Nicole hung up, Roscoe noticed her worried expression. âIs something wrong with Austin?â I have asked.
Nicole agreed and said, âAustin has a fever.â
Without hesitation, Roscoe attempted to remove the IV. âIâll go with you to see how he is.â
"No!" Nicole stopped him from taking out the needle. âDon't move. Keep the infusion going. âIâll take care of this.â
Nicole was worried that if Roscoe went with her, Jarrod, unpredictable as ever, might further delay Austin's treatment.
Nicole, full of concern, reassured him: "Don't worry, Roscoe. I won't let Jarrod bully me anymore. I'll stand up to him."
She urged Roscoe: âFocus on your recovery. When you are better, we will hire a lawyer and fight to get Austin back.â
Seeing how determined Nicole was, Roscoe realized that his presence would only make the situation worse. âGo quickly. Take care of Austin. âIâll stay here.â
