Chapter 1205
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1205:
? ? ? ? ?
The hospital staff learned a hard lesson. Jarrod couldn't handle the truth. Answers became vague, especially regarding mortality, to avoid Jarrod's wrath.
Some lucky souls escaped with their lives and a large compensation.
Others were not so fortunate, meeting a violent end for their honesty.
As a result, everyone tiptoed around Jarrod, fearing the consequences.
As for Nicole's prolonged unconsciousness, doctors offered vague explanations, alluding to the power of will to sustain life.
âA strong belief can drive survival,â one doctor commented, leaving speculation to the rest.
Jarrod listened intently, sitting by Nicole's bed, gently holding her hand. "Nicole, don't you want to see your mother?"
Nicole fell into a beautiful dream. In it, her parents were alive and she was still the precious heiress of the Lawrence family. She was married to Roscoe, and Austin gave her boundless joy.
But then Jarrod burst in, a shadow in her heart, the root of her anguish and her fury. She wrote in torment, screaming. Everyone disappeared, including her parents, Austin and Roscoe.
Then a whisper urged her to wake up. âDo you want to see them? âOpen your eyes if you want.â
Nicole opened her eyes and Jarrod loomed over her. Waves of pain and sadness washed over her as memories flooded back. She shuddered through clenched, demanding teeth. âWhere's Roscoe? Where is he?â
Jarrod's expression froze, the joy replaced by a sneer. âWake up and immediately ask about that man?â
Nicole's fragile hand squeezed Jarrod's, her desperation evident. "Where is he? Where's Roscoe?"
Jarrod's lips twitched, his temper, tempted to rise and claim that Roscoe had met a miserable end. But he held back, opting instead for a gentler approach, wanting to give Nicole hope that she would still live.
"He's recovering from a leg injury in the hospital. When you feel strong enough, I'll take you to see him," she reassured him, a hint of concern in her voice.
Doctors had warned not to panic over Nicole's fragile condition.
The days of waiting before Nicole finally woke up had transformed Jarrod. He no longer harbored the desire to torment Nicole to death. Now, he simply wanted her alive, by his side.
Nicole remained silent, wise enough not to provoke Jarrod when he was trying to be nice. Angry him did nothing for her.
âJarrod, did you mention my mother?â Nicole's voice lacked vitality.
Before Nicole left Ardlens five years ago, the hospital had declared Dora brain dead. Nicole had made the necessary arrangements, ensuring that sufficient funds would maintain her mother's life support before resigning herself to fate.
Since her return, she has learned that her mother's ashes resided alongside her father's, thanks to Jarrod's help in the preparations.
However, this news did little to calm the enormous animosity he harbored towards Jarrod.
Nicole's dream persisted vividly. Dora alive appeared at her side.
Nicole couldn't shake off the nagging doubt. Had her mother really left?
Were those really his mother's ashes in the urn?
