Chapter 1188
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1188:
? ? ? ? ?
Hatred could take many forms, but it would not manifest itself like this.
Having experienced life's ups and downs, Wayne knew that Jarrod must care deeply for Nicole. When a man became too obsessed with a woman, it could introduce tons of potential danger.
Wayne was okay with Jarrod's affairs with other women, but not with emotional entanglements. Otherwise, Vicki wouldn't have a happy life if she married Jarrod.
Wayne strongly disapproved of Vicki's relationship with Jarrod, but he could do nothing about Vicki's self-destructive threats. She was severely self-harming, cutting deeply into her wrists. The fear was so great that she finally agreed to help Jarrod.
Despite everything, Wayne appreciated Jarrod's abilities, knowing his potential. Even given the slightest opportunity, Jarrod could emerge triumphant from the most difficult situations. And Nicole was still missing, as if she had fled.
Reassured by this, Wayne gradually began to warm Jarrod.
At today's birthday celebration, by Wayne's arrangement, he was flanked by Lowe, his son, and Jarrod, his future son-in-law, meaning that Jarrod would soon join the Hampton family and become a pillar of the family, thriving together.
However, Lowe was quite upset by this. He figured that if it hadn't been for Nicole, the woman caught at Jarrod's side earlier, he wouldn't have faced this downfall. Because of the deal he'd made with Nicole, with the threats of exposing her compromising photos, he'd stolen documents from his father, which led to his demotion and a forced period of reflection at home.
Seeing Jarrod being held in such high regard at the family banquet raised questions and increased Lowe's unease. Was Wayne planning to pass on the Hampton legacy to Jarrod?
Lowe silently pledged to keep an eye on Jarrod, and his expression darkened. He was bitter, and he intended to spread that bitterness.
Lowe said to Jarrod, "Mr. Schultz, have you located the woman involved in your scandal?"
As Lowe spoke, a sudden chill descended on the table. The atmosphere became tense.
Luckily, Wayne had momentarily stepped out, avoiding the awkward moment.
However, for Lowe to ask him this question while his fiancée was standing by his side he was humiliating for Jarrod.
Vicki looked at Lowe with intense distaste, her gaze silently warning him to shut up. Although they were half-siblings, their relationship was strained and affection was in short supply.
Even though Vicki was a woman, Lowe was wary of her.
Bolstered by the alcohol, he drew. âSis, don't be mad, I'm just curious. Your fiancé seemed like the kind of guy who's been sowing his wild oats. Didn't he make out with that woman against the tinted glass? I wonder if heâd be up for a threesome or somethingâ¦â
âLowe, shut your mouth!â Vicki couldn't contain her frustration and lashed out at him.
But Lowe refused to stop, his old grievances driving him on. Usually, his father overlooked his escapades.
Although he had told her not to lay eyes on the company's employees, the allure of her cousin-in-law, a married woman, was too tempting to resist.
Driven by desire, Lowe had several secret encounters with her. She was skilled, which ensured his comfort, but their relations were cut short when Nicole exposed his compromising photos on the Internet, causing her father to suddenly transfer her.
âDamn it!â Lowe cursed under his breath.
The incident caused quite a stir, and his cousin shared a significant amount of money for it.
Lowe felt that he could have kept their meetings low-key and had more fun if it hadn't been for Nicole's meddling. Ultimately, Jarrod was also to blame for his own involvement with Nicole.
