Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1185:

Half awake, Vicki looked up at him with blurry eyes and whispered, âJarrod, don't go away tonight. Stay with me.â
Jarrodâs expression softened and he smiled. âIâll stay with you.â
Vicki snuggled contently into his embrace.
Jarrod led Vicki inside. Shortly after, the elevator doors opened again, revealing only Jarrod exiting alone.
Jarrod sat back in his car, his face serious as he rubbed his forehead and asked, âAnything new?â
Alec replied, âNot yet.â
Jarrod remained silent. I had expected that answer.
Alec glanced at Vicki's villa and then added, "Mr. Schultz, I think the boy may have disappeared or may not have survived."
A month had passed since Nicole disappeared. One day, out of the blue, Jarrod asked Alec to go abroad to check if Nicole had any children.
The landlady abroad had not seen Nicole with any children, but she did share a useful detail, claiming to have witnessed a man with Nicole leading a small child. However, the one glimpse she got of the young man could not confirm whether it was her son or simply the son of a friend.
To Alec, this information seemed insignificant. He found it hard to believe that Nicole would have been able to endure childbirth, considering the strain it would have put on her health.
However, when Jarrod learned of this, he became obsessed with locating the boy, as if driven by something beyond reason.
Where should Alec start? After searching for so long, he joked to himself about wanting a child to satisfy Jarrod's demands.
Alec tried to reason with Jarrod. âMr. Schultz, if you want a child, why don't you consider having one with Miss Hampton? âIt would cement your alliance with the Hampton family and secure your position in the Schultz Group.â
Alec thought it was a simple solution. Having a child with Vicki seemed to offer more advantages.
Forget about the child Jarrod thought he might exist. Even if that child were real, bringing it to light could upset the Hamptons and jeopardize using Vicki as leverage, potentially causing the Schultz Group's top brass to challenge Jarrod.
In essence, Alec hoped, for Jarrod's sake, that Nicole's son didn't really exist.
Jarrod looked coldly at Alec. âNot a bad idea. Why donât you go have a child with Miss Hampton?â
Alec winced. âMr. Schultz, please, that was out of line. âI wonât do that again.â He realized Jarrod was telling him to keep his opinions to himself.
Jarrod waved him off, rubbing his temples. âLet Shay handle the search for the boy. âYou focus on the business.â
Alec bit his lip, regretting his earlier words. He was well aware of the special place Nicole held in Jarrod's heart, and any of his children would undoubtedly be crucial to him.
The car window was half open when suddenly a white bird flew in and landed on Jarrod's shoulder.
Stunned, Alec quickly recognized it. âIsnât that Miss Hamptonâs pet bird?â
Jarrod acknowledged this too.
