Davey pulled a gun from behind, pointing it at Erick. “How exactly do you plan to kill me, asshole? Do you think your men can outrun my bullet?”

With Raegan in their clutches and Erick at gunpoint, they both seemed cornered and outmatched.

Davey, losing his patience, shouted, "Maybe you can convince your sister to tell me where she hid Casey, or she'll be the first to go, and then you!"

Erick stood firm. “Davey, I’ve already involved the Houghton and Aurora police. If I were you, I’d consider giving up.”

Davey scoffed, “You really don't understand, do you? “I’ll just count to three.”

And he announced ominously: "At three o'clock, you will see your sister's brains paint the pavement, and then you can lie down there together."

Erick's hair stood on end and he shouted: "Try it, I dare you!"

Davey's smile was sinister as he began to count: "Three... Two..."

But just before he could say “one,” a figure flashed by.

Raegan was thrown aside by an invisible force, and a loud bang rang out.

It sounded like someone had fallen from a great height.

Raegan's heart raced. The cold scent of cedar filled the air.

The scent was unmistakeably Mitchel's. Could it really be him?

Raegan's face drained of color as she rushed to the window.

At first glance, he saw a man on the ground, surrounded by pools of blood. He could see nothing else.

“Erick…” she whispered, about to scream when a familiar voice interrupted her. “Aren’t you going to help me up?”

Turning, Raegan saw Mitchel clinging to a cross next to the church, his eyes fixed on her.

I blinked several times, hard. It wasn't an illusion. It was real Mitchel. He was the one who had lunged at Davey and pushed him.

Raegan looked out the high window and then at Mitchel, speechless and overcome with emotion. It was incredibly risky. She must have lost her mind…

Before Raegan could process it all, Erick had stepped forward, gently pushing her aside to pull Mitchel inside.

Once Mitchel was inside, Erick breathed a deep sigh of relief and exclaimed, "Thank goodness the plan worked!"

It turned out that it had all been part of their plan, with one attracting Davey's attention below and the other sneaking up to attack. Still, the plan was incredibly risky.

“Erick, our mother is…” Before Raegan could finish, Erick interrupted.

“Don't worry. We found her. She's safe in the hospital for a check-up. “We’ll visit her soon.”
