Chapter 1153
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1153:
? ? ? ? ?
Casey, still in shock, seemed dazed and only partially conscious, the weight of the long confinement weighing on her.
However, Raegan's presence slightly improved his condition. Despite his confusion, Raegan's words resonated deeply. Escaping had become his driving force.
A smile spread across Casey's face as she knocked on the window. Raegan noticed and opened it just enough for her safety.
It wasn't wide enough for Casey to stick his head through, but he stretched out his fingers happily, catching the breeze and breathing in the scent. His expression was one of pure relief. It was the smell of freedom.
Seeing her mother like this, Raegan knew that all her risks had been worth it. Her hands were cold with sweat. She was counting on Davey to have a shred of conscience.
Davey was shrewd enough to have anticipated Raegan's moves from the start. She was challenging him. After all, who else would think of securing their mother in the safest seat during such a frantic escape, where one would be safest if there was an accident.
Davey recognized Raegan's determination when he saw the car speeding away and knew that if he hadn't opened the door, she would have definitely crashed the car! It was clear that Raegan had Casey's safety in mind, which showed her determination.
After driving for a while, Raegan turned on her satnav to find out her location.
Not knowing Aurora's surroundings well, she wasn't even sure they were still there, as there were no signs on the roads. It seemed like they were going around in circles.
When Raegan finally got her bearings, the car's system announced that they were in Houghton.
Raegan was stunned. They had arrived at Houghton!
It was far from Aurora, across a vast sea. Although remote and hidden, it was beautiful.
Apparently Davey had managed to get them out of Aurora by water. They couldn't have gotten out by land or air.
Water routes, being less predictable and having more possible escape points, made it easier to sneak away.
It seemed that Davey was planning to move them from Houghton to another place, probably without staying long. That was why it was so difficult to track his movements.
Realizing this, Raegan finally understood. It was no wonder her signal hadn't brought Erick and the others back quickly. With the distance of an entire country between them, even the quickest response couldn't be instantaneous.
âPlease help me call the police,â Raegan asked the carâs intelligent system in a foreign language.
The system responded: âNow connecting to Coast Guard Station Houghton.â
Raegan's heart raced. She'd speculated that many of the cars' systems could connect to emergency services, even if they couldn't make normal phone calls. If she could get through to the local police, they could hold out safely until Erick arrived. Davey was influential, but his reach wouldn't extend to every country.
Raegan parked and waited nervously for the connection.
After two beeps, the call came through. A voice, interrupted by the clatter of keys on the keyboard, asked: "Hello, how can I help you?"
