Chapter 1139

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1139:

? ? ? ? ?

Feeling completely distraught, Raegan leaned on her adoptive father's shoulder, staring blankly at the deserted road behind them.

Young Raegan didn't understand why they had to flee, but her adoptive father's obvious panic caused her to cling to him, pressing her face into his neck to hold back her tears.

Still too young to sense the impending danger, young Raegan now lay in the cold mud, her eyes wide with horror as the man in the red suit came closer. Fear grew palpable in her throat, leaving her speechless.

To her relief, the man stopped about five meters from the mudhole where she had hidden.

The man knelt down, picked up a bloody member of his adoptive father's body and threw it at his face.

"Ha." With a chilling laugh, the man let out what he thought was a witty comment. “Move your leg, you idiot.”

The man then tilted his head back, watching the sky as it grew even darker, heavier rain imminent.

With the temperature dropping and a strong storm approaching, the man assumed that young Raegan, if not fatally injured from the fall, would have a hard time withstanding the harsh conditions.

So the man got into the red sports car and sped off.

Young Raegan, her legs numb, lay frozen in the mud. She watched as her foster father's eyes remained wide open, even in death.

Tears were running down her cheeks. It was a horrible, indescribable feeling that enveloped her small body.

Gathering all her strength, young Raegan managed to drag herself out of the dark mud, eventually collapsing next to her adoptive father. “Dad… Wake up…”

But young Raegan couldn't understand that her adoptive father would never answer her again. The man who had rescued her from a landfill and cherished her like a precious jewel would never wake up again.

Young Raegan crawled out of the mud, narrowly escaping freezing to death.

However, the shock caused her to develop a fever that confined her to the hospital for a week. When she regained consciousness, her mind had locked away the horrifying memories of that night.

Until today.

Davey, sitting in the highchair in front of Raegan, the cake in front of him, suddenly jolted his memory, which had been numbed by the cold.

The intense flood of memories left Raegan speechless. Her body shook and her teeth ground together, not in fear, but in pure rage at the beast that had murdered her adoptive father.

Davey, observant and perceptive, noticed the change in Raegan's demeanor and realized that she had remembered the incident. He tugged at the corner of his mouth and his satisfied smile widened as he commented, "Not bad, seeing the cake and remembering it all."

“You!” Raegan gritted her teeth, overcome by a wave of hatred, but found herself unable to continue speaking.

“Don't rush it. Take your time,” Davey said, his voice calm, his smile trying to reassure her.

Raegan wished she had a knife at that moment to kill Davey, but she realized that such an action was beyond her power. Even armed with a knife, mastering it would be a formidable challenge. Davey had successfully kidnapped her from the well-protected Clifford family mansion, a testament to his dangerous capabilities.

She reminded herself that giving in to hatred and agitation would solve nothing. Maintaining her composure was essential to devising an escape plan.

Raegan dug her nails into her palm, using the pain to maintain her composure.
