Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1133:

? ? ? ? ?

They had also stopped the surveillance recordings, setting them to play every ten minutes, a measure that would not arouse suspicion unless Davey closely scrutinized the surveillance screen.

To prevent Davey from having a chance to check the surveillance, Raegan moved closer to him.

“Mr. Glyn.” Approaching with an empty wine glass, Raegan expressed her gratitude in a polite tone: “Thank you so much for joining us for the baby shower.”

Davey responded with a polite nod: “Miss Foster, you are very kind.”

Raegan, realizing her hands were empty, pointed at a servant with an annoyed look. “What is it? Why hasn’t Mr. Glyn been served any wine?”

Apologies poured from the servant as he quickly poured a glass for Davey, who made no move to take it. The servant stood, holding the glass aloft.

A nod from Davey caused the servant to place the glass on a nearby surface.

When the servant had put down the glass, Raegan said, "Please refill it."

The servant refilled Raegan's glass and she raised it to Davey, saying, "To your health, Mr. Glyn."

As if to demonstrate the safety of the drink, he drank it in one gulp.

As she finished, Raegan's heart raced. The wine had been laced with a sleep-inducing substance for hours. Having preemptively taken an antidote, she could prove that they had shared the same bottle, a ploy to lower Davey's guard.

Dealing with someone as cunning as Davey, mere conversation posed risks, immobilizing him was the safest course.

However, even after Raegan emptied her glass, Davey showed no inclination to sip from his own.

Raegan asked for a refill, hinting subtly, “Another toast, Mr. Glyn.”

Being both from Ambrosia, Davey would understand the meaning of a double toast as the pinnacle of respect.

Davey, as an old man, could not simply refuse a toast without repercussions, for to do so would tarnish his reputation. He slowly raised his glass, a smile barely reaching his eyes.

Just as Davey was about to drink, he abruptly put down his glass, remarking, "I just remembered,

I have taken the medication prescribed by my doctor, which prohibits me from consuming alcohol or anything else for three hours.

With firm resolution, I put the glass down on the table.

Though enraged, Raegan found his excuse plausible, leaving her no reason to object.

So plan A had failed miserably. It was time for plan B.

As Davey turned to leave, Raegan quickly intervened: “Mr. Glyn, I have heard of your experience in cross-border trade, and as you may know, my family is involved in international shipping. “I have some pertinent questions, if you will spare me a moment.”

Davey paused and nodded gently. “Please proceed.”

Raegan delved into a series of intricate questions related to international trade, avoiding the basic questions that might raise eyebrows and making sure her questions didn't betray her intentions.

Davey remained patient, responding with impeccable logic.
