Chapter 1131

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1131:

? ? ? ? ?

“Why didn’t you contact me later that night?” Raegan asked.

Heaven knew the desolation he felt when he looked at the blank screen of his phone in the morning.

Previously, Mitchel would continue to text her even if she didn't respond. He would at least ask, "Are you asleep?"

Call her capricious or accuse her of whatever, but in relationships, women tend to be more attentive to these small details.

Especially someone like Raegan, who had been in therapy for psychological issues. She was more attentive to any subtle changes, perpetually wondering if the other person had changed or if she had made a mistake. People like her crave constant reassurance to ease their worries.

Mitchel's voice ranges out in a soft but captivating tone as he confessed, "I was afraid you were asleep."

To Raegan, that explanation seemed like mere justification. To her, reaching out first was a clear indicator of his willingness to communicate openly. She couldn't understand how someone as perceptive as Mitchel couldn't understand that.

Mitchel understood his point, but he was also battling his own bouts of insecurity. For someone who had previously exuded excessive arrogance, acknowledging such vulnerabilities was a challenge.

But for Raegan's sake, Mitchel admitted, "I wasn't sure what you had in mind. If I asked another question, I was worried you'd see me as a bother, and I'm afraid you'd dislike me..."

Raegan detected a hint of uncertainty in Mitchel's low tone. She was taken back. When had this proud man, eternally admired by others, started harboring feelings of insecurity? She was speechless.

Raegan, however, harbored a sense of grievance. She had waited for him in his office, only to fall asleep, waking up in the dark and cold, abandoned and close to freezing.

“Why didn’t you come back to your office sooner to find me?” His voice was soft, with a hint of pain. Just looking at the darkness and the cold brought back the feeling of injustice.

If she hadn't been waiting to share her thoughts with him, she wouldn't have inadvertently fallen asleep on the couch, only to find herself locked inside by mistake.

“It's my fault,” Mitchel said. “It's totally my fault. “I promise I won’t leave you like that again.”

Despite contemplating giving up, when Erick suggested she distance herself from Raegan, she felt like her heart had been torn out.

It was then that Mitchel realized that he still wanted Raegan to spend the rest of their lives together. If Raegan agreed to be with him, he was determined not to give up.

Despite his limited mobility, Mitchel was determined to do everything in his power to protect Raegan for as long as he could.

When he learned that Raegan's marriage to Stefan was a sham, he no longer wanted to sit back and do nothing. He has long gone to become an integral part of his life, as well as that of his children. They were the most important thing to him in this world.

Raegan blushed. How had Mitchel undergone such a rapid transformation? Hadn't he been distant just a short while ago? Yet now he was articulating everything she longed to hear.

However, Raegan still harbored some anger at being left alone.

Wanting to vent her anger, she said, “You claim you won't leave me, but I'm already married. Do you intend to get involved like the ‘other man’?”

Mitchel's gaze flickered slightly, realizing that Raegan was unaware that he knew the truth. “I’m willing to risk my reputation for you,” he replied.

Raegan was stunned, her mind spinning with wonder. “Would you be willing to be the ‘other man’?”

Mitchel looked at her deeply. “As long as you don't despise me, we can be together.”

His heart raced with excitement as he spoke these words. Sweat dampened his palms, feeling as if he were at the crossroads of being chosen for the first time in his life. He feared that Raegan might reject him now.

But he was desperate to resolve this issue. Each crisis, that suffocating feeling like his heart was stopping, underlined the truth that life offered no promise of later, only the immediacy of now.
