The doctor immediately called for medical help. A total of 3800 mlâ¦
It was amazing that he had managed to hold on for so long!
Erick was relieved to know that Raegan was safe, but felt a weight on his chest as he watched Mitchel rush to another operating room for urgent care.
Her emotions were deeply conflicted. What Mitchel had done was beyond what even a close relative would normally do. Of course, if his blood type had matched, he would have donated without a second thought, even if it meant giving everything he had. He had promised Casey that he would always take care of Raegan and never break his word.
Now Mitchel had made a similar vow. Erick sincerely hoped that Mitchel would succeed. He didn't want anything bad to happen to Mitchel. Otherwise, he wouldn't know how to face Raegan.
Erick knew that Raegan's cold exterior only hid her insecurity. She was afraid of falling again, which made her act coldly towards Mitchel. But now, Mitchel had proven with his actions that he was someone worthy of trust.
Erick turned to Stefan and said, âStefan, you are my dear friend, butâ¦â
He paused and added, âIf Mitchel does it, I hope you can⦠step aside.â
It wasn't easy for Erick to bring himself to say it, but he felt it was necessary. It wasn't that Stefan had any shortcomings. Erick was sure that if Stefan had the same blood type, he would have given it to Raegan without thinking twice because of the love he felt for her. Erick was sure that Stefan would do the same for him.
But when it came to matters of love, it wasn't about who was first or who was superior.
From an outside perspective, Erick could see that Raegan's heart wasn't as frozen towards Mitchel as it seemed at first glance. He hoped that they would resolve their misunderstandings. After all, wouldn't it be better for them to be together without wasting any more time?
Erick told Stefan, "I know Raegan well. I don't want to keep them apart any longer."
Stefan felt a pang of sadness, but he could recognize the sincerity in Erick's words. Sometimes, people fooled themselves. With genuine emotion, he replied, "I understand you, Erick."
Raegan felt as if she had been sleeping for centuries. In her dreams, someone was cheering her on, calling out to her and urging her not to give up.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Erick sitting next to her bed, her eyes filled with tears. Naturally, she assumed that it was he who had been calling her.
âErickâ¦â she hesitated. The overwhelming weakness of his body and the gloomy expression on his face made his suspect that he had survived a serious crisis.
âYou're awake!â Erick exclaimed happily. âAre you feeling any discomfort?â
Raegan shook her head. Other than feeling extremely weak and exhausted, she felt fine.
âI'm glad to hear it,â Erick said. âAre you hungry? Do you want to eat something? The doctor said you could eat something light.â
Raegan shook her head again. âI'm not really hungry yet. How are the babies? Are they okay?â
"They're doing very well," Erick reassured her.
He didn't want her to worry and continued: "You don't have to worry. You had a premature birth, just over ten days, but the doctor confirmed that it was a full-term pregnancy. The babies are fine, no problems at all. We have checked. I will have someone bring the babies to you soon."
Raegan felt a wave of relief at hearing this.
Just then, Stefan walked in to see Raegan.
