? ? ? ? ?
He seemed quite worried.
Casey's heart sank when she saw a figure sitting silently in the chair behind the glass partition.
That person⦠It was her doctor, Jimena!
Jimena's lifeless body was frozen in a silent scream, her eyes wide open and her gaze lost. Her face and body told a horrible story of unbearable suffering in her final moments.
âAh!â Casey yelled as she pointed at the glass.
Davey turned, his expression indifferent, and said, "The doctor thing was a mistake on my part. I didn't investigate his character thoroughly."
âYou!â Casey's throat tightened, her voice frozen in her airways, unable to form words. Fear filled her, threatening to take over.
Casey's body shook with pain as she realized that Davey would brutally destroy each and every person around her.
âYou should have kept her out of this. But her greed sealed her fate. That sapphire pendant has become a permanent accessory, a deadly reminder of me to her,â Davey said lightly. He revealed in Casey's fear, revealing in her suffering. He tried to instill a deep-seated fear in her, making sure she was too terrified to try to escape again.
The mention of the sapphire pendant and the gross sight of Jimena's mutilated mouth made Casey realize something horrible.
A violent wave of nausea hit her like a ton of bricks, leaving her reeling. She convulsed in a violent fit of vomiting, throwing up a torrent of acidic liquid mixed with blood, her body in agony.
But Davey's cruelty was far from over. He knew that mental anguish would inflict a deeper, more lasting scar than physical brutality, and he was determined to exploit it to the fullest. He intended to etch a lasting memory, a constant reminder of the consequences, to ensure that Casey would never dare betray him again.
Her thin lips twisted into a cruel smile as she said, âErick, your precious son. Your love for him was not in vain. He was quick to hunt down Jimena. But unfortunately, by the time he found her, she was gone, silenced forever.â
âDon't you dare hurt him!â Casey grabbed Davey by the collar, her eyes shining with anger. âDon't touch him! âIâll kill you if you try.â
But her bravery was short-lived as Davey quickly subdued her, pinning her to the ground with ease.
Davey continued, his words dripping with cruelty: âBecause he searched for Jimena to find you, he got shot.â
Casey's voice suddenly froze, her screams trapped in horror and despair.
Her world shattered, leaving her only in ruins. Davey had brutally murdered his parents, taking advantage of his illness. Jimena was killed for delivering messages for her, caught in the crossfire of a deadly game. Erick lay seriously injured in his search for his whereabouts, his life teetering on the edge of oblivion.
The innocent people she loved, who had tried to selflessly support her, had been unjustly punished by Davey, and their lives had been shattered by the cruel consequences. Casey was consumed by despair and grief.
Her heart broke into a thousand pieces.
âIt's all my fault,â she thought, consumed by guilt and self-blame.
"They suffered because of me."
She curled into a ball, as if trying to physically contain the anguish that threatened to consume her. But she couldn't.
The pain came from deep within her, a constant reminder of her own self-hatred. Forks. She was consumed by self-hatred, feeling like a toxic presence that didn't deserve to exist. She felt totally unworthy of life itself.
