Chapter 1061

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Stefan's gaze softened with understanding. “Your suspicions may not be unfounded, Raegan. I'm looking into it and have notified the authorities. Rest assured, I’ll get to the bottom of this.”

Stefan knew that keeping Raegan informed was crucial. It kept her grounded and prevented her from spiraling into irrational fears.

However, Stefan only told him half the story. It was clear that someone had intended to send Erick a clear warning. The alleged thief did not even make it to the hospital before he met his death.

So when Erick was injured, Stefan opted to have the doctors visit his home rather than risk going to the hospital. He feared the possibility of the opposition meddling in Erick's treatment if they were in the hospital. It seemed safer to handle everything within the confines of his own home.

In addition, the Clifford family mansion had all the necessary medical equipment, comparable to that of any hospital, so there was no need to worry about hygiene or lack of resources.

Stefan wrapped Raegan in his arms, offering comfort. “Look at it this way. If there's trouble brewing, it means the person behind this is feeling desperate. “You’re getting closer to the truth.”

Raegan felt a whirlwind of confusion and anxiety engulf her. Who could be hiding her mother, and who could wield such a formidable influence?

After an agonizing wait, the door opened and the doctor came out.

Raegan rushed forward, her heart pounding with worry. “Doctor, how is my brother? Is he in danger?”

The doctor's expression was serious. "There is nothing critical. The patient has not suffered any damage to vital organs. It is a gunshot wound to the left shoulder, and we have successfully removed the bullet. He just needs rest and he will recover."

The doctor's words brought a modicum of relief to Raegan's agitated mind.

Entering the room, Raegan found Erick still unconscious, lying on the bed.

The steady rhythm of the monitors next to Erick provided some comfort, easing some of his anxiety.

Raegan stayed by her side until Stefan came in and gently reminded her, “Eat something first and then you can sit with him for another hour before we rest.”

If Raegan wasn't given a concrete deadline, she'd probably stay up all night worrying. Considering her pregnancy, staying up and worrying would only harm her health.

Stefan, sensing her uneasiness, held out a reassuring hand. “I'm here for you, Raegan. And there are attendants around the clock. You need to focus on yourself right now, especially since Erick is still resting. Don’t worry him when he wakes up.”

Raegan knew Stefan had her best interests at heart, so she agreed, trusting his guidance. With a sigh, she rose from her seat, her movements sluggish with exhaustion, and made her way to the dining room.

The aroma of food did not whet her appetite, but she knew she needed to eat, especially in her delicate state of pregnancy. With determined effort, she pushed the food around on her plate, forcing herself to consume what she could.

She looked intently at Stefan, sitting across from her. “Stefan, have you given any further thought to the woman who bought the medicine?”

The sudden disappearance of the mysterious woman left them with more questions than answers. Their only recourse was to follow her contacts in search of some clue.

“Her name was Jimena,” Stefan began, his voice tinged with frustration. “She worked as a private doctor for the Glyn family and took on other private assignments.”

Obviously, it seemed that Jimena's motivations leaned towards profit, charging exorbitant fees for her services.

“Wait, the Glyn family?” The mention piqued Raegan's interest and she leaned closer. “You mean Davey Glyn, Katie’s uncle from our wedding?”

Stefan solemnly acknowledged. “Yes, that's him. Davey Glyn.”
