Chapter 1040
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1040:
? ? ? ? ?
Maybe the man who bought the medicine was a coincidence, or maybe Casey was long dead. Both possibilities were bleak.
Erick spoke to Raegan about the situation, sharing all the details as Stefan had recommended, although they had made no progress.
Raegan listened quietly, then asked, âErick, can I take a look at the surveillance video?â
The only clue they had was the man with glasses captured on video.
Erick hesitated, worried about stressing Raegan out during her pregnancy, but it was obvious she was deeply worried.
He transferred the video to a tablet and sat next to Raegan as she watched it intently, even though he had reviewed it himself more than five hundred times, examining every detail of the street corner where the man had disappeared. There were no clues. It was as if the man had disappeared into thin air, disconcerting everyone.
Raegan put the video on repeat and watched it over and over again.
He noticed something strange about the man on the screen, especially his attire. His black coat had unusually high shoulder pads.
They were often used to make someone look larger, but on his thin, frail body, which barely stood at five foot seven, the padded shoulder pads seemed almost ridiculous.
Other than that, as Erick had said, there were no obvious signs of suspicion.
However, Raegan was not ready to give up. He kept his eyes fixed on the screen over and over again. Erick left to answer a phone call, which took about thirty minutes. When he returned, he found Raegan still curled up on the couch, clutching a pillow and watching the screen with keen interest.
"Very good," Erick began as he approached. «Let's continue this tomorrow. "You're going to strain your eyes."
When he reached over to turn off the tablet, Raegan intervened. "Wait!"
Erick stopped, and Raegan quickly paused the video on a scene in which the man with glasses stood in front of a store window for three seconds.
The window showed nothing more than a stark white wall, apparently unimportant. What was his purpose during those three seconds?
"He was looking at his reflection!" Raegan exclaimed.
Erick looked puzzled. âWhatâ¦Raegan, are you saying you want to check your reflection?â
âNot me,â Raegan clarified, gesturing toward the figure on the screen.
"She. "He was looking at his reflection."
Erick turned his attention back to the filming, a scene he had reviewed countless times but without recognizing anything out of the ordinary.
«Erick, you have made a mistake in the investigation. The person who bought the medicine was not a man, but a woman! Raegan stated.
Erick was stunned. «How can it be? Is she a woman?
The costume was convincing. The woman wore shoulder pads under her large coat, elevated shoes, and wore several layers of pants to appear larger.
But her brief stop in front of the window, a frequent pause in women who instinctively stop to look at their reflection, gave her away.
