“Raegan, this is Davey, an old family friend and close associate of my father.” Stefan maintained a calm demeanor, but his hand was quietly placed to support Raegan's back, offering a silent gesture of protection.

Moments before, Raegan had leaned against him.

Hidden beneath the elegant folds of her wedding dress, Raegan's faint tremors were only observed by Stefan. I was scared. He was puzzled for a second. Why would I fear Davey? They didn't know each other.

“Davey, then I'll take Raegan to rest now,” Stefan said, preparing to leave.

Davey's gaze intensified, his piercing eyes seeming to see past Raegan's wedding dress, as if glimpsing a hidden truth. Miss Foster, you are pregnant. Your health is paramount. Take care of colds, for the baby's sake.

Raegan's heart raced once again every time Davey mentioned their baby, Raegan caught a hint of threat in his tone, which made her uneasy.

Stefan stepped forward, placing himself protectively in front of Raegan, his voice calm and reassuring. «I will keep her safe. Don't worry".

Davey's lips curved into a wry smile as he uttered a dry, "Not bad."

“Please have fun,” Stefan said to Davey, offering his arm to Raegan and walking her away.

A few steps away, a young man ran, arms wide open, ready to envelop Raegan in a warm embrace.

Stefan frowned and quickly extended his arm, stopping the young man's eager approach with a firm but gentle gesture.

Bryce's face turned red with embarrassment as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, and his greeting was interrupted with a hesitant wave. “Raegan…”

Raegan's face lit up with a warm smile. “Bryce, what are you doing here?”

"Hector's tied up, and he happened to be in the area on vacation, so I thought I'd stop by," Bryce said cheerfully.

Who would have imagined that the former troublemaker, once famous for avoiding studies, had now earned a master's degree?

After entering college, Bryce discovered his passion for scientific research, delved deeper into it, and became completely immersed in his pursuit.

After years of intense study, their paths crossed again when Raegan returned to Ardlens and Bryce contacted her by email, rekindling their connection.

Stefan, sensing the chill in the air, concern etched on his face, suggested, "Let's go inside and talk."

"Okay, let's go."

Then, side by side, the three of them entered together.

Unbeknownst to the trio, Davey stayed behind, his eyes fixed on Bryce with an intensity that bordered on fascination. Raegan's presence evoked a sense of familiarity, reminding Davey of Casey, but Bryce's behavior struck a deeper chord, reminding him of his own youthful personality.
