Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1008:

Feeling her heart twist with empathy and having already expressed her concern, Raegan decided to proceed and bandage his wound.
«Let me help you bandage it, okay? âOnce itâs done, you can come back.â She spoke in a reassuring tone, hoping to convince him. When he didn't object, she took it as his consent.
Carefully, he pulled up her sleeve and gently wiped away the blood before wrapping her carefully.
In the narrow space of the car, Raegan's loose wedding dress almost oppressed Mitchel.
He concentrated on bandaging her arm, making a bow and tying an elegant bow. After bandaging it, he noticed that his arm seemed thinner than before. Had he not fully recovered, leaving himself in such a fragile state?
Despite her growing sympathy, Raegan was aware of the urgency. He had to return before his absence was discovered, to avoid causing a commotion.
Raegan tried to pull her hand away, but Mitchel suddenly pulled her back and hugged her tightly. Her heart raced, panic mixed with confusion in their embrace.
However, the hug was as warm and solid as before.
Mitchel's fresh, familiar scent enveloped her, infusing her with a sense of security and calm.
For a brief moment, Raegan felt transported back to her sweetest, most loving times. When there was no interference from Lauren, Katie or Henley. Just the two of them, reluctant to be separated those mornings before work.
In that moment, Raegan felt the desire to surrender to the moment, to lose herself in his embrace. He put aside thoughts about curses, fates or past wounds and preferred to savor that hug that had cost him so much to achieve.
"Just five minutes," she told herself, indulging in this brief indulgence. Then reality would claim them both.
Silence filled the car.
They hugged each other without saying a word, as if any sound could break the delicate illusion that surrounded them.
However, five minutes passed in the blink of an eye.
Like Cinderella racing against the clock, Raegan reluctantly pushed Mitchel aside, insisting, "You should leave."
Now she was entangled with a mysterious assailant. If Mitchel stayed, he would face danger once again. She couldn't justify such selfishness, not after he had risked his life for her on multiple occasions.
Last time, he had almost died. Maybe Katie was right. Their destinies were misaligned and the union only spelled disaster for both of them.
Seeing how resolutely Raegan pushed him away and repeatedly insisted that he leave, a shadow fell over Mitchel's eyes. "Don't you have anything to tell me?" he asked.
Raegan bit her lip, answering simply, âNo.â He didn't like indecision.
Once she made up her mind, she stood firm.
«Seriously, you have nothing to say to me?» Pain echoed in Mitchel's deep gaze.
Raegan's heart clenched, but she looked away and responded equanimously, "Thank you for coming to my wedding, but given Aurora's current situation, I couldn't invite you..."
He had his reasons. He knew that the agony of watching the man he loved prepare for another's wedding was no less painful, Standing at the altar while he watched as a guest. She refused to experience it.
Whether out of selfishness or self-preservation, she was determined to end things decisively.
