Chapter 348
The Lady Nun Vows Revenge by Caroline Rowland
At Saint Grace Nunnery, outside Hasen City, Eliza read prayer scriptures when Sister Sarah rushed in. âSerenity, youâve got a letter!â
âA letter? Whoâs it from?â Eliza asked curiously as she took the envelope.
âI donât know. The envelope only has your surname on it. Since itâs for you, you must know who itâs from,â Sarah replied with a shrug.
âMy surname?â
Elizaâs heart skipped a beat. Among the people she knew with the surname Stonor, there were only two possibilities: Lawrence or her dearest friend. âCould it be a letter from her?â
The thought of someone she hadnât seen in ages made Eliza excited. She quickly sat down and opened the letter. As she pulled out the letter, a faint floral scent wafted out from the envelope.
Unfolding the letter, Eliza found a paper and a delicate pressed flower bookmark tucked inside. Seeing the pressed flower bookmark, a warm smile spread across her face.
Noticing her expression, Sarah couldnât help but ask, âWhoâs it from? You havenât read it yet, but youâre already smiling so.
much!â
Eliza gently held the pressed flower bookmark between her fingers, her smile deepening. âItâs from an old friend of mine, Diana Baker. We exchanged letters before I became a nun, and weâd always include a pressed flower bookmark. It was our little secret code.â
âAh, I see. No wonder the letter smells so nice even before itâs opened,â Sarah said with a chuckle.
Eliza handed the pressed flower bookmark to Sarah as a token of thanks for delivering the letter.
After Sarah left, Eliza carefully held the letter in her hands, her heart heavy with anticipation as she began to read. It had been so many years since she last saw Diana, not since their heartbreaking separation in the past.
A bittersweet smile appeared on Elizaâs face as her childhood memories resurfaced. Diana had been her only friend, and they shared a bond that could never be replaced.
Back then, Eliza was the cherished daughter of the Dukeâs estate, while Diana was the daughter of a highly respected scholar in the court.
Because of their connection with the Padilla family, the Larson family often visited the Dukeâs estate. From the moment they were born, Eliza and Diana had been inseparable, playing and growing up together.
But everything changed when Dianaâs grandfather was reassigned to a post outside Hasen City. Her entire family had to relocate, and Diana had no choice but to leave with them. After that, their meetings became rare, and they could only stay in touch through letters, each enclosing a flower the other loved.
Eliza vividly remembered that before she was forcibly taken back to the Dukeâs estate, she had heard devastating news: the Baker family had been falsely accused of colluding with foreign forces. Evidence was planted in their home, and the entire family, including Diana, was thrown into prison.
She desperately wanted to find Diana, but was dragged to the Dukeâs estate. In the end, she never got the chance to see Diana again.
According to her calculations, the Baker family would face that cruel accusation in two and a half years. Eliza had planned to settle her affairs in Hasen City before seeking out Diana. But she never expected Dianaâs letter to reach her first.
But in the alternate timeline Eliza foresaw, she hadnât received Dianaâs letter. âWas it intercepted by Sophie and the others, or had something happened to Diana?â
A wave of unease swept over Eliza, and she quickly continued reading. It wasnât until she was halfway through the letter that she finally let out a sigh of relief, her tense shoulders relaxing.
It turned out the Baker family hadnât encountered any trouble. Diana had just returned home from traveling with her grandpa and had learned about the events in Hasen City.
Diana was furious when she discovered that the Dukeâs estate had taken in an illegitimate daughter and that the girl, along with the Stonor family, had bullied Eliza into becoming a nun. She immediately wrote to reassure Eliza not to be afraid. That night, she packed her belongings and set out for Hasen City with her entourage, determined to confront Sophie and the Stonor family.

As Eliza read Dianaâs words, filled with righteous angrand verlod Support, her heart felt warm.
Eliza glanced at the departure time mentioned in the letter again. If Diana rushed from her current residence to Hasen City, it would still take her sixteen days. That meant she would arrive tomorrow.
Thinking of this, Elizaâs spirits lifted. âI canât wait to see her tomorrow!â
348 Chapter 348 A grin spread across Elizaâs face again. Unable to hold back her excitement, she stood up, ready to call Renee to help tidy the room.
Since Eliza wasnât staying at the Dukeâs estate anymore, she and Diana could become roommates. After all, theyâd been sharing a bed since they were kids. Diana would never mind.
Just as she was about to act on her thoughts, Eliza caught sight of the unfinished prayer scriptures out of the corner of her eye and quickly sat back. âWait, better finish copying the scriptures first.â
Half an hour later, Eliza finally put away the dayâs handwritten prayer scriptures and headed out gleefully. âRenee, come help me tidy up the room. Iâll have a visitor tomorrow!â
Renee was practicing martial arts outside, turned her head, and asked, âHmm? Are we expecting a guest?â
Eliza beamed brightly and replied, âNot an ordinary guestâmy best friend.â
The next day, before the sun rose, Eliza had already headed down the mountain to Hasen City to meet her friend. She thought she had left early enough.
But when she arrived at the city gates, the guards informed her that a convoy from Westshire had already entered the city much earlier.
Upon hearing that, she knew it must be Diana and her entourage. After all, the Baker family was currently based in Westshire.
âWait!â A sudden realization struck Eliza, and her expression changed dramatically. âCould Diana have gone straight to the Dukeâs estate to settle scores?â
Eliza knew her friend too well and felt a surge of unease. She quickly called Renee and ordered, âRenee, hurry to the Dukeâs estate. That troublemaker Diana mustâve stormed in by now!â
She was certain Diana would go after Matthew. After all, they had been beefing since childhood.
Elizaâs prediction was spot on. The Baker familyâs carriage headed straight for the Dukeâs estate as it entered Hasen City. When they arrived, a woman dressed in a fitted outfit leapt from the carriage.
Standing before the grand gates of the Dukeâs estate, she took a moment to gather her strength. Then, with a voice that completely contradicted the elegance of her name, she suddenly let out a thunderous shout, âMatthew, you shameless wretch, get out here right now!â
