Chapter 516
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 516
When Louis walked towards Olivia, he placed his palm on her thin shoulders and squeezed earnestly.
âOlivia, the Cruise family is counting on you.â
âDad, donât worry. I wonât disappoint you,â said Olivia.
Before she could finish her sentence, her phone suddenly rang. When she saw that it was a call from
Louis, the corners of her lips curled up involuntarily. âI have to take this call.â
With that, she grabbed her phone and quickly ran upstairs to her room.
As soon as the call was picked up, Louisâs voice sounded on the other end, âOlivia.â âLouis,â Olivia
called out softly.
Louis took the initiative to ask about Marinaâs invitation to the banquet. âYou seem to be very close with
Miss Jones lately.â
Olivia was slightly stunned. Her expression was calm, but there was an unclear emotion in her eyes.
Her voice was still as gentle as before. âMiss Jones and I hit it off very well. Not only did she accept me
as her g*ddaughter, but she also agreed to help me support the Cruise family.â
âLouis, to be honest, I still feel like this is all a dream.â
There was no hint of humility in what was said. They were honest and grounded in truth.
In the past, Olivia never dreamed that she would one day be related to the Jones family of Aureliana,
let alone be taken in as Marinaâs goddaughter.
She thought that perhaps the heavens finally felt sorry for her.
The heavens couldnât bear to let her be bullied by Rachel over and over again. She also knew that this
was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Rachel was currently doing well in Seaxas because of the sugar daddy behind her.
Whether it was a sugar daddy, who was worth 20 billion dollars, or the richest family in Seaxas, the
Johnson family, these two supporters were not worth mentioning in front of the Jones family of
Aureliana.
She wanted to see how Rachel would fight her in the future!
Upon hearing her words, Louis fell into a short moment of contemplation.
After what seemed like an eternity, a shadowy spark flashed in his eyes, as if he had finally made up
his mind. âOlivia, when Iâm done with my work, Iâll find time to visit your parents and propose a wedding
date,â he said.
Olivia did not seem too shocked to learn this. Everything seemed to fall smoothly
within her expectations.
âSure.â
After hanging up the phone, Olivia leaned against the window and looked out at the endless night.
The next morning.
After a short gathering, the Chamber of Commerce of Seaxas announced the end of the meeting.
Rachel and Lucas silently followed behind Old Mr. Johnson.
They watched as the people of the other three families left.
At this moment, loud footsteps came from behind.
Rachelâs eyes moved slightly. She turned around and saw a group walking straight toward her.
of people
Jimmy and Landon walked in front.
David followed close behind them. Wearing a black suit and tie, he gave off an air of icy austerity.
There was an aura of authority about him.
He had thick brows and intense black eyes. His dark, lake-like eyes made it hard to see clearly or make
any guesses. They posed a threat of certain death.
He glanced over as if he could feel Rachelâs eyes on him. His eyes betrayed an underlying softness.
Arthur noticed that Rachel was in a daze and couldnât help but cough softly.
Rachel suddenly came back to her senses.
They saw Thomas and Old Mr. Shain standing in front of them.
âThomas, itâs been many years since we last met. Youâve really become more and more promising.â
Old Mr. Johnson smiled kindly and looked at Thomas with admiration.
Thomas remained calm while he apologized, â Old Mr. Johnson, Iâm sorry for coming back so abruptly.
Iâll visit you in a few days.â
When Old Mr. Johnson heard that, the smile on his face widened. âAlright, Iâll prepare some nice food
and good wine. Have a good meal with me.â
âAlright.â Thomasâs lips quirked up slightly. He looked at Rachel with unconcealed admiration.
It seemed to everyone inside that the sun was shining brilliantly, yet the temperature had fallen
significantly. Everyone could sense the oppressive presence of the air, and it made them shudder.
