Chapter 461
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 461
As soon as Rachel finished speaking, the huge office fell into such silence that even a falling needle
could be heard.
Smoke swirled in front of Marina, and her red lips could be vaguely seen. They were cold and
enchanting, like a red rose with thorns.
After a while, Marina said in a low and gentle voice. âMiss Grey, you surprised me completely. Iâm
starting to admire you a little.â
What she had said sounded like praise at first, but on second thought, one would find that it was more
like a provocation.
Rachel placed the cup in her hand on the table and met Marinaâs gaze fearlessly. âI hope I wonât
disappoint you.â
Marina smiled, put out the cigarette in her hand, and threw it into the ashtray. Then, she picked up her
bag, stood up, and glanced down at Rachel. Her glance contained too many emotions, which were
contempt, probing, and a trace sizing Rachel up.

âItâs getting late. I should leave now. Otherwise, Mom will be waiting anxiously,â Marina said as she
walked out.
No sooner had she just taken a few steps than she heard David saying in a cold. and unreasonable
voice behind her, âEddie, see the guest out!â
Marina stopped and then turned sideways to look at David. The smile on her face suddenly turned cold.
She snorted softly and turned to leave.
After getting into the car, Marina threw her bag on the seat and sneered, âIdiot!â David was about to
face a calamity, but he actually dared to be so impolite to her!
Currently, the news that David had a woman was spreading like wildfire on the island. The Elders had
already begun to send people to investigate.
However, David was too unmerciful. There had been no news about those people sent out for
investigation.
Coincidentally, Marina heard of Rachel from Wharton, and she wanted to meet Rachel in person.
However, during their conversation, David did not mention the woman called Rachel Grey at all.
It was obvious that David wanted to protect Rachel.
For all these years, there had never been a woman by Davidâs side. It was really rare for him to protect
such a woman.
âWhere are we going now, Miss Jones?â the driver in the front row asked
cautiously.
Marina came back to her senses and looked up at the driver. There was a hint of laziness in her low
and gentle voice. âIâm going to see my mother.â
After Marina left, the coldness in Davidâs eyes did not dissipate. He held Rachelâs hand tightly,
seemingly very nervous.
âWhatâs that?â Rachel noticed a black box on the table.
David followed her gaze. âItâs a gift from her.â
âA gift?â Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly. Her pretty eyes revealed a hint of interest.
David stared at her for a moment and said slowly, âThe 10th day of this month is my birthday.â
Rachel was shocked. She stood up excitedly and looked down at David. âWhy didnât you tell me
earlier? I wasnât prepared at all.â
Fortunately, there was still half a month before Davidâs birthday. If she started preparing now, there
might be enough time.
âItâs just a birthday. Thereâs nothing to prepare.â David reached out and wrapped his arm around her
slender waist. He pulled her into his arms again and looked up at her. A hint of gloominess flashed
across his unfathomable black eyes. âBesides, you know what I want the most for my birthday.â
Rachel blinked at him. âWhat do you want?â
Rachelâs clear, beautiful, and black eyes revealed a hint of innocence, which made David want to press
her down and bully her until she cried.
David hugged her waist with one hand and held the back of her neck with the other. He raised his head
and kissed her lips fiercely.
It was not until Rachelâs lips were numb that David slowly let go. of her.
He reached out and rubbed her slightly swollen lips. His dark eyes were deep and unfathomable.
Davidâs hands that were roaming around her waist gradually wrapped around her slender waist. Then,
he tightened his grip and held her tightly in his arms. âI want you.â
His voice was low and slow, and there was a faint smile on his face, but it was exceptionally seductive.
