Chapter 246
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 246 Suffer A Double Loss
[I have an appointment with a friend tonight. Letâs meet another day.] David frowned as he looked at
the message on his phone.
The atmosphere around him suddenly darkened. The temperature in the entire meeting room seemed
to have dropped to zero, and it was cold.
The executive standing on the stage in the middle of a presentation unconsciously thought he had
made a mistake and began to stutter and repeat himself, even shaking uncontrollably.
At the end of the presentation, he took a deep breath as if he had survived a calamity, only to find the
man sitting at the head of the table unmoved.
He could not help but look at Eddie. The pleading look in his eyes was hard to ignore.
Eddie sighed softly. Sure enough, it couldnât be done without him.
âSir?â he called cautiously.
David put away his phone and glanced at him.
A trace of coldness flashed across the manâs eyes, making Eddie shiver.
Eddie suppressed the panic in his heart and said calmly, âSir, the presentation from the marketing
department is over.â
âOkay,â David replied, âThe meeting is over.â
Everyone secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
Back in the office, David called Rachel. âWhat time do you finish tonight? Shall I pick you up?â
âNo need,â Rachel said.
She knew Maryâs personality very well. She would not stop until she was drunk tonight!
She didnât know when it would be over.
âI have something to do later. I have to go.â
After hanging up, Rachel turned to look at the cafe.
Unsurprisingly, she saw the Smith familyâs car in the parking lot.
A meaningful smile appeared at the corners of her mouth.
She did not expect the Smith family people to arrive early. It seemed that they had waited for a long
time.
âMiss Grey.â Mr. Smith stood up with a gentle smile on his face. âThe
password is six zeros.â
Rachel sat in the chair and looked at Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith for a moment. âWhereâs the transfer
letter?â
âHere!â Mrs. Smith hurriedly took out the item. âIt will take effect as long as you sign it.â
Rachel took it and looked at it. After making sure there was nothing wrong with it, she took the pen and
signed it.
The moment they saw her sign, Mrs. Smith and Mr. Smith looked at each other and heaved a sigh of
relief.
âMiss Grey, weâve done what you asked. Can you withdraw the lawsuit now?â Mr. Smith asked
carefully.
Rachel looked up and there was a trace of coldness in her exquisite eyes. âSure.â
Hearing this, Mrs. Smith suppressed the excitement in her heart and held Mr. Smithâs hand tightly.
However, this did not stop her from hating Rachel more.
She had wanted to teach Rachel a lesson that no matter how good she was, she couldnât stand up to
the Smith family.
But who would have thought that in the end, the Smith family would suffer a double loss?
However, no matter how much they hated her, they could only grit their teeth and swallow it.
Louis, sitting in the car, had planned to get out with Mr. Smith, but he got an impromptu phone call from
Chief Kandor.
âChief Kandor, did you find out what I asked you to do?â
On the other end of the phone, Chief Kandor said, âMr. Smith, Iâve asked around. The last name of the
person in charge of investigating your company is Shain!â
When Louis heard this, his eyebrows twitched fiercely. âShain?â
Why was this suddenly related to the Shain family?
He calmed himself down and said, âChief Kandor, I can assure you that Iâve never provoked anyone
from the Shain family!â
Back then, on the day of Miss Shainâs wedding, he was kicked out of the house. In order not to cause
unnecessary trouble, he did not show any displeasure. How could he offend the Shain family?
âChief Kandor, is there some kind of misunderstanding?â Louis probed.
