Chapter 134
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Rachel Grey watched as David Jones closed the document file and casually placed it aside. âAm I
disturbing you?â
âYes,â David answered bluntly.
Rachel pursed her lips in embarrassment. âIâll leave after putting down these.â
She went to the table, set the milk on his desk, and turned to leave.
Just as she placed her hand on the door handle, a palm brushed past the hair near her
nape the moment the door opened. Then Rachel was pressed against the door.
The refreshing woody scent instantly enveloped her. David pressed his warm and firm chest tightly
against her back.
âBut you already disturbed me, so why donât you take full responsibility?â
Rachel could hear the man talking into her ear in his husky voice, sending shivers down her spine. She
could also feel his breath as he spoke.
Rachelâs eyebrows twitched.
While she was silent, the man stretched out his hands to help straighten her body; he was looking at
her gently.
His fingers touched the damp hair that hung down the side of her shoulder. âDid you take a shower?â
Rachel nodded. âYes.â
When she looked up, she noticed that his eyes were bloodshot. She suddenly remembered what Mrs.
Brown had said earlier.
âDrinking coffee late at night is bad for the body. As ser vants, we donât dare persuade Mr. Jones, but I
think health is far more important than work.â
*Rachel could not help but look a little worried. Her tender gaze was mixed with a hint of
pity. âDavid Jones, you donât have to work so hard. At most, Iâll support you.â
âDo you
feel sorry for me?â David observed the change in her expression, his smile
widening.
Rachel lowered her eyes and subconsciously raised her chin. âNo, thatâs not it.â
David brushed some of her damp hair aside. He said unhurriedly, âYouâre lying.â
Rachel was stubborn and wanted to retort. but when she looked up, she happened to meet David
Jonesâ deep black eyes.
His
eyes were filled with affection as if he was going to hold the back of her head and kiss her the next
second.
She held her breath and a trace of panic flashed across her eyes. âHurry up and return to work. Try to
rest early tonight.â
As she spoke, she grabbed the manâs hand and walked towards the desk.
However, the man suddenly grabbed her back. He bent down and carried her on his shoulder.
It all happened in an instant. He seemed very experienced. It was as if he had rehea rsed it many
times.
âDavid Jones, what are you doing? Put me down!â Rachel screamed.
âBehave yourself!â David raised his hand and slapped her bu tt. He carried her out of the study and
went straight to the guest room.
Rachel blushed. She punched his back in exasperation. âDavid Jones! Put me down right
now!â
David strode into Rachelâs room and threw her onto the bed without saying a word.
Rachel sank into the soft bed. She felt a little dizzy.
Before she could react, Davidâs masculine figure pressed down on her.
Rachelâs heart raced, and her eyes flickered with confusion.
The manâs cold aura enveloped her. Her body stiffened, and she gripped the blankets below her tightly.
âDavid Jones, youâ¦â
As David got closer, Rachel flinched and closed her eyes. Her long eyelashes fluttered, revealing the
panic and uneasiness in her heart.
Rachel could feel his warm breath on her face and around her neck.
