Chapter 304
My Mute Bride
Chapter 304 How One Should Fish The impact of the screeching brakes caused Justin and Rachel to fly forward and nearly slam into the back of the front seats due to the momentum.
âSorry, thereâs a red light. I didnât notice it in time.â Gloriaâs voice came from the driverâs seat. As a result of that, their argument had been interrupted.
Rachel then shook Justin off as she tried to open the car door. âRie, I want you to open the door now!â
A frowning Gloria responded, âI think you both need to calm down first.â
âI am calm.â
Justin and Rachel said at the same time.
Sweeping her gaze across both of them, Gloria added, âEither you follow my advice wherein we have a nice talk after weâve found some place to sit or we can all be locked in this car with nobody leaving anytime soon.â
While it was a stalemate on one hand, it was a spectacle for the audience to watch on the other hand.
âMaster Jason, there is news from the Investigation Bureau.â
The holiday resort was situated in the mountain located at the western side of Riverdale. Jason was seated in the courtyard while he fished in a relaxing manner, looking nothing like the man who frequented clubs.
âWhat did they say?â
âThe news that Rachel Hudson and Officer Hawkins fiercely arguing is spreading all over the Bureau.
Officer Hawkins, who personally interrogated her, slammed the table and stared at her with a bad attitude.â
âHow did they deal with her in the end? Did they throw her behind bars?â
âThey didnât. Young Master Justin interfered.â
âOh?â
âYoung Master Justin had given Chief Maxim a ring and explained that Buckyâs so-called proof was hearsay and not physical evidence. So, Chief Maxim could only order Officer Hawkins. to release her, but it can be said that this has caused a huge rifit between Rachel and Officer Hawkins.â
Now that he was immersed in his thoughts, Jason clarified, âJustin had actually sought help from the chief because of this woman?â
âYes, the info was validated.â
Hmph. With a sneer, Jason continued, âHeâs still the same as before: soft-hearted. I thought that him forgetting all those things would make him let this woman go. It seems that this weakness of his would be hard to get rid of. No wonder my father wanted this woman gone at all costs.â
âHow about we make Buckyââ
Jason raised his hand to interrupt his subordinate. âNo need. From this, you can see that the friendship these two women have isnât that deep. After all, how close could a businessman and an incorruptible commissioner be? Changing our perspective, this woman might just be the key to controlling my nephew, so in the futureâ¦â
Although he did not finish his sentence, his long-time followers all understood what he meant.
âThen, about Buckyâ¦â
The fishing pole in Jasonâs hand suddenly moved. Raising a hand, he gestured to his subordinates to remain silent whereupon the fish took the bait.
The fish sprung out from the water with a splash.
His subordinates immediately flattered, âWhat a big fish!â
âWhen the fish takes the bait, we have to loosen the handle a bit and reel it in when it has no more strength. We canât forcefully pull it out of the water from the get goâ¦â
While retrieving the hook from the fishâs mouth, Jason sighed. âLook at it, itâs completely exhausted.
Under this kind of circumstance, it wonât make for a delicious dish.â
âThen, are you releasing it?â
âReleasing it? Iâve spent so much time catching it and you now want me to release it? On top of that, this fish will emit a warning signal once it returns to the water. When that happens, weâll only be catching air.â
âI understand Master Jasonâs words.â
âGet going now.â
âYes.â
In the afternoon, Gloria had parked the car in the courtyard of a restaurant.
âThis restaurant was opened by my friend. Itâs secluded with not many people here, so you guys can talk without worrying about anyone overhearing you. Since itâs coincidentally afternoon, weâre in time for lunch. Have a look at the menu and order.â
Taking the menu, Rachel flipped through the menu distractingly before saying, âIâm not hungry. You guys can eat first.â
âWhere are you going?â
Standing up, Justin asked, âAre you going to find Bucky?â
âSit down, Justin?â
Frustratingly, Gloria pulled on him. âWe agreed to talk this out calmly. Did you not understand what I said? Canât you just talk peacefully?â
Panicking inside, Justin was worried that Rachel, who was blinded by revenge, might do something foolish. But, knowing that going at each throatâs now would only amount to nothing, he sat down defeatedly. âIf she doesnât leave, then I can talk in peace.â
âWhy does it concern you whether Iâm leaving or not?â
Letting her anger flow, Rachel retorted, âI still have a mountain load of things to do. Are you going to stick to me while Iâm sorting through them one by one?â
âThat actually works. How about this, Iâll let Frankie move my office to your company. This way, I can go to work and clock off together with you. Where youâd be, Iâd be there too.â
âAre you insane?â
âI think youâre the one that is insane.â With a stone cold face, Justin stated, âLook at what youâve been doing recently. Who gave the idea to kidnap someone? Was it Jason?â
This stunned Gloria. âYou mean your second uncle? What does this have to do with him?â
âThis isnât important.â Waving her hand, Gloria quickly changed the subject back. âI donât believe that Miss Hudson would kidnap someone innocent, so stop talking now, Justin.â
âPlease tell me, Miss Hudson, what actually happened?â
Shooting a glance at Justin, Rachel was going to explain her side of the story when a message from her phone caught her attention. With an emotionless gaze, she sat down once again.
âNo matter what I say, a certain someone already thinks that Iâm in on it with his second uncle, doing illegal things and using unspeakable methods on normal citizens, donât they?â
Justin was slightly shocked by her words.
Rachel explained while taking out a photo from her bag, âThis was a photo taken at Montenegro, where Lily has been studying for the past month and a half. I only used this photo for a while to scare Bucky into speaking. Since he couldnât contact her, he really believed that I was the one who kidnapped Lily.
He is the one whoâs acting like he has something to hide.â
After all, a bad person always thought others would deal with them in the same way.
âSo, what youâre saying is that you didnât kidnap her at all?â
âI donât have that capability yet.â
Breathing a sigh of relief, Gloria stared at Justin. âWhat did I say? How about apologizing to Miss Hudson now?
Before Justin could speak, Rachel had interrupted him. âNo need for that. Since he did bail me out from the Bureau, weâll make it even.â
With an awkward expression, he asked, âWhy are you in such a hurry to look for Bucky, though?â
To this, she replied, âJust because Janice has left me off the hook this time doesnât mean the entire thing is over. Once the Investigation Bureau dispatches someone from the embassy there to check on Lily, theyâll quickly learn that sheâs merely been studying in isolation with no threat to her personal safety. When Bucky finds out about that fact, do you still think that I can get anything out of him?â
Reacting to this, Gloria exclaimed, âAhhh! Then, why did I drag you all the way to this place?â
âIâll send you there right now, Miss Rachel!â
Upon saying that, she immediately stood up to grab her car keys with the intention of leaving.
Yet, Rachel was wiping her hand with the towel before she spread the tablecloth on her legs. She calmly stated, âThereâs no need. Itâs already too late.â
A perplexed Gloria asked, âWhy?â
Looking at her phone, Rachel continued, âJolly has just informed me that the quarantine hotel over there has already relayed her current situation to the embassy.â
Based on Buckyâs relation to Lily, he would have already received the information by now as well.
