Chapter 18 - Pamila Montgomery

Hollywood Heartbreaks: The Fall

Pamila Montgomery took another sip of coffee as she frantically typed a reply e-mail to Fresh Faced, Inc. The company owned a major skincare line and she had just penned a seven-figure sponsorship deal on behalf of Alex. The deal was especially important because it would have Alex star in several national television commercials. This deal was now in jeopardy because the company's main demographic, teenaged girls, may no longer view Alex in a positive light, due to recent reports that Alex was cheating on Jordan W.

Alone in her home office, Pamila's morning had been non-stop high priority e-mails, urgent calls, and media fires. Damien was never supposed to affect Alex... this story was only supposed to make Jordan back off of my daughter!

She hit the send button on the e-mail assuring Fresh Faced, Inc. that the story was a fake and that she would take care of the matter in time for the sponsorship's press release. But I don't have this under control, she sighed to herself, I need to figure out how to fix this and get Alex back in the clear.

She would have to reschedule that brunch with Alexandra so they could discuss the tour, the sponsorship and, unfortunately, Jordan. Pamila couldn't believe Jordan had the audacity to approach her about her daughter before she could even talk to Alexandra about the situation. One thing Pamila could be sure of was that her daughter did not authorize Jordan coming up to her.

Pamila was startled out of her thoughts when her phone started to ring. What is it, now, she thought exasperated, but sat up straight when she realized it was the studio calling.

"Pamila Montgomery, good morning." She said trying to sound calm and collected.

"Good morning, Ms. Montgomery." Mr. Harmin said in an even tone. "As I'm sure you're aware, there have been certain developments that are causing some concerns about the upcoming press tour."

"Yes, but let me assure you that --"

"I'm not quite finished, Ms. Montgomery." Mr. Harmin cleared his throat before continuing. "Here's a question for you. What happens when an up and coming starlet starts dating a charming, handsome, all American A-lister, and that starlet turns out to be a lying cheat who breaks prince charming's heart?"

"Mr. Harmin," Pamila started with a sharp edge in her voice, "I get that you're unhappy with recent developments in the press, however, you will not address my daughter as a liar or a cheat, or in any other way that would defame her upstanding character. I will take care of the situation and I'm appreciative of any time you'll grant me to do so. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work for and with your studio and I speak for both Alexandra and myself when I say we hope and look forward to continuing our business relationship. With that being said, Mr. Harmin, I have a question for you: when should you come for me or my daughter?"

"Ah, yes," Mr. Harmin sarcastically chuckled on the line before responding, "I believe I'm familiar with that urban phrasing, so I'll take a guess. The answer is I should only come for you and your daughter when you send for me, correct?"

"No, Mr. Harmin. The correct answer is never. Never come for me or Alexandra. Period."

"Noted, Ms. Montgomery. Luckily for you it's too late to cut all of Alex's parts out, but do be careful." Mr. Harmin ended the call and Pamila put her forehead to her desk.
