chapter - 5

Flashback

Time skip to their childhood .

A few years ago.........

Two houses adjacent to each other lived two beautiful families: the Seghal family and the Dixit family.

The elders of the families, Raghu Ram and Veerendra, were childhood best friends and business partners who had faced many ups and downs together and stood with each other strongly .

Over time, the ladies of the two families, Sumitra and Meena, grew closer to each other .  They got to know eachother through their husbands but it was like they were long lost sisters who would give anything for eachother .

Amidst the chilly monsoon weather, as the black clouds gathered and the earth emitted its sweet aroma.

(the smell of the soil attracts many people do you guys love it?)

four adorable children - Naina, Sri, Arjun,  Arun played in the muddy garden , applying and teasing each other with playful smudges of mud.

Time skip

Arun and Arjun both were in the fourth class while Naina and Sri were in the second class. Both Arun, Arjun were top students of their class, always achieving equal marks.

However, the revelation of the final exam results changed their friendship.

Arun scored 96%, whereas Arjun scored 94% . Anjan, a boy envious of Arun  Arjun's friendship, approached Arjun and said, "Look, you guys used to study together and get equal marks, but Arun got more marks than you in the finals."

Arjun responded, "I'm actually happy to see my friend for achieving those grades"

Anjan persisted, "Don't be happy. Look, even the teacher is praising him, not you. He said that he didn't write well, yet Arun got more marks than you. He is lying to you Arjun. He secretly studies and writes the exams well . On the other side , you are so innocent just believe him on his words ." Saying this anjan left from there smiling at the  success of his plan.

This led poor Arjun to believe that Arun had lied to him. But on the other hand his heart makes him feel that Arun never lies to him and it will be his foolishness to belive Anjan.

After the school Arun went to Arjun and gave a sweet hug , Arjun too responded to the hug but some where he thought that arun lied to him .

Time skip .

After a few months .

One day, Arun got a call from his street mate Pradeep.

"Arun, did you wake up? We're having a cricket match today. You should come to the ground at 2:30."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming . After finishing my lunch, I'll be there with Arjun."

After the call Arun was in a hurry to complete his lunch as he has to go for the match . He was at the dining table,when  Arjun entered the Sehgal's home.

"Arun, Arun, hurry up and finish your lunch." Said Arjun

"Where are you guys going in the middle of the afternoon?" asked Sumitra with a confusion.

"Cricket match, aunty."

"No, you guys are not going. Look at the weather, the clouds are turning black. Rain will start pouring in minutes. I can't let you guys dwell in the rain . What if you guys catch cold ? No both of you are staying at home . " Said Sumitra.

This made both of them sad . Then Arun and Arjun, at the same time said "You know, ma, how much we love cricket."

Raghu entered the dining area saying, "Let them go, darling. They are kids  let them enjoy . Do you know, when we were kids, Veer and I used to play cricket in the hot summer and even in the rain. Those memories..."

With puppy eyes,  both Arun  Arjun reached near Sumitra."Ma, promise we will be back soon. If it starts raining, we'll be settled in Dheer's house the ground is near to his house."

"Acha, okay, okay. Don't show me your puppy eyes you guys know how to melt me. Take care boys." Said Sumitra with a smile .

" Thank you maa " both boys  hugged her  leaving both sumithra and Raghu laughing.

Giggling at each other both of them started to run towards the ground.

Cricket is love for both Arun and Arjun.

Meanwhile, in the Dixit house

Sri and Naina both were enjoying playing with their new kitchen set .

After playing Sri went towards Meena  " Ma, I want to have kheer. Its my favourite. Will you make it for me?"

"Of course, beta. For whom else would I do it?" Saying this Meena went towards the kitchen to make Meena special kheer .

Naina is busy arranging her toys , while Veer and Sri are playing with each other.Then  Sumitra enters the Dixit house and asked Veer

"Bhaiya, there was a rose plant on the  the entrance wall of your house right. ? Where is it ?".

Hearing her words Sri got scared . She  quickly hides at the back of Veer.

"Actually , what happened na  I was watering the plant and the flower pot  it slipped from my hand" .

Saying this, he turns around and picks up sri who was giggling at his lie.

Sumitra knew he was lying " Bhaiya, don't lie. I know Sri did this. Why are you taking her side? Don't spoil her."

" Sumi, she is a kid. She doesn't know. While plucking the flower, she accidentally pushed it. It was an accident , leave it . It's just a plant "

" Bhaiya, thats not just a plant. You gifted that rose plant to Meena on her birthday. Do you know how much Meena would be hurt after knowing ".

" No Sumi I am not hurt but I am happy that Sri didn't get hurt " .

After seeing Sumitra Naina comes near her and asks her to  lift her up . As always, Sumitra lifts her, kissing all over her face, pouring all the love. Seeing this, Naina starts to giggle in her arms.

Naina with happy voice asks Sumi "Ma, what did you buy for me from the market?"

"Your favorite KitKat chocolates, and I also bought you the art set you asked for" . After seeing her favourite chocolates and art set Naina got so happy . She started kissing Sumitra making her  smile .

" See who was talking about spoiling few minutes ago ." Says Meena making everyone laugh .

All the members had kheer made by Meena.

" Save some for Raghu he loves it." Says Veer enjoying the 3rd  bowl of kheer.

" I did. I have taken some for my bhaiya before serving you guys. I know if I start serving you before saving for bhaiya , for sure you would empty the whole bowl " this made everyone laugh and but never mind Veer gave a side eye to Meena and continued to eat his kheer.

After sometime Raghu came to the Dixit house to enjoy his part of saved kheer . Both the ladies were busy in gossiping about a weeding while the men were discussing about the business.

On the other hand Naina and Sri went out to the garden to play .

Naina ,Sri were making paper boats near the fountain placed in the Dixit house. They both turned around upon hearing their brothers' voices.

"Why did you do that, Arun?" bashed Arjun in anger .

"You were one who went to the opposite team to support your injured friend,  I wanted my team to win, so I took your wicket."

"But we are best friends. How could you do that? How can you take my  wicket "

"You're not my team member. I should support my members; they had their hopes in me."

(Author laughing at their matured talks 😂😂)

Arguing with each other, they went near the fountain. Seeing them aruging the girls went towards them .

" Stop it, bhaiya. Don't get angry at Aru." Said Sri stopping them aruging.

"Who is Aru?" Asked Arjun in a confusion making Naina laugh at his weird expression.

" I mean Arun."

Arun felt shy on  hearing his nickname, even though she called him many times, but calling him around his parents or outsiders was rare.

"Stop calling him that, Sri."

" But you know I like calling him that. And you, bhaiya, why are you fighting with him? He wanted  to support his friends just like you did."

This made Arjun think . "I'm sorry, Arun. I didn't know I was feeling jealous when you  opposed me."

"I'm sorry too, Arjun. You joined that team to help dheer, but in return, I took your wicket. It's me who made the mistake."

They both hugged eachother.

Arjun: I love you, bro.

Arun: I love you too, bro.

Naina and Sri burst into laughter and exchanged weird looks after hearing their brothers saying I love you to eachother.

" I'll go back to the room, guys. I haven't done my homework." Said Arjun.

" Yeah, me too. After you finish your homework, give it to me. I forgot my textbook in class." Said Arun smiling.

Veerendra came out saying "Naina, come inside, beta. I have work for you."

Leaving Sri and Arun near the fountain, Naina and Arjun went off.

"You look cute in this blue frock." Complimented Arun.

"Thank you, Aru. You too look good."

" Do you know my favorite color is blue?"

"Why do you like blue?"

" Because blue dresses look good on you."

After hearing his words  both of them giggled at each other.

Arun took some water in his hand from the fountain and threw it on Sri's face. "Aruu, what are you doing? " . She took some water and splashed it on Arun's face.

They played with water, laughing and looking at each other.

In excitement, Arun took a mug from the garden and splashed Sri with water in it .Sri got wet and took the mug from his hand and threw some water on him.

Seeing them in the water, the clouds started to throw their water on the little kids to let them enjoy the beautiful rainfall.

Arun and Sri started to run here and there while enjoying the bliss of nature.
