Chapter 1117
This Time, I Will Get My Divorce, Mr
Chapter 1117 Meeting Old Mrs. Fuller
Toby placed his interlocked fingers on the dining table without saying a word and he lowered his head as he considered the situation. As soon as Sonia saw that, she did not bother him as she held her fork and knife to continue her meal. After she had taken a few gulps of her food, he finally gave a reaction.
He relaxed both hands and gradually lifted his head. âIâll get the police to reinvestigate the case and look into the matter once again.â
âWhat if the proper investigation reveals that Mr. Lore was the mastermind behind this? How would you deal with this?â Sonia stopped eating and placed down her utensils as she glanced at him. This was a point that she was most interested in.
He lifted his red wine glass and gulped it down. âIâve chosen to forsake the Lore Family during this morningâs incident; if Mr. Lore ends up being the mastermind, then naturally, I would not let him get away with this. I will choose to seek justice for Professor Randall. After all, Professor Randall was the mentor I chose in the first place.â
âI agree with that.â Sonia stretched out her hand and placed it atop his. âNo matter what happens, Iâll support your decision and Iâll definitely stand by your side just like how youâve always stood by me and supported every single one of my decisions.â
Remaining silent, Toby turned his hand and held her hand in his palms as he gently gripped her hand to indicate his happy feelings at the moment.
After some time, he let go of Sonia and stood up while holding onto his phone. âIâll make a phone call.â
âAre you going to call the police now?â Sonia asked as she lifted her head.
He nodded. âIâll give the special forces a call. Both Professor Randall and Mr. Lore are civil servants and theyâre enlisted in the government, so the usual cops would not be able to handle this matter. The investigation would have to be conducted by the higher-ups.â
âOkay. Go ahead, then. Make it quick though because the food is getting cold.â Sonia pointed to the lavish spread on the table.
Toby affirmed, âIâll be back real soon. Start without me.â
After saying that, he strode off in his long legs and headed in the direction of the balcony.
On the other end, Harry did not realize that he was the topic of Toby and Soniaâs suspicions, and that Toby had contacted the special forces to reinvestigate the death case from more than ten years ago.
At that moment, Harry was inside a car with Grayson next to him.
Grayson looked at the phone in Harryâs hand before turning to look at his wizened face, which was currently thunderous. He gulped before asking, âDad, did Toby hang up on you?â
His tone was full of trepidation as he sounded weak and feeble. He was a completely different person from his haughty self in front of his secretary in the morning.
Indeed, every person had their weak spot regardless of how great they were. Grayson was afraid of the old man before him, who was his very own father. Therefore, he spoke gingerly when he was faced with Harry.
âHavenât you seen it with your own eyes? Why do you have to ask the obvious?â Clearly, Harry was annoyed by his sonâs question as he shot him a disgusting look.
Grayson shrunk back and muttered, âI was just expressing my concern.â
âHah! Donât worry. I am perfectly fine,â Harry replied calmly and retracted his gaze.
Grayson ran a hand through his hair. âBut then Dad, Toby noticed that you were the one on the line, yet he hung up the phone. It looks like things are serious this time.â
At that moment, Grayson suddenly felt unsure of his assumptions. He had initially thought that even if Toby was angry about the matter and refused to talk to him, Toby would never ignore Harry. After all, Harry was Tobyâs mentor. Perhaps all that was needed was for Harry to voice out and Toby would surely be mindful of Harryâs identity as his mentor and let things slide. Surely, he would never actually go after the Lore Family. However, at this point, Toby had rejected Harryâs call and Grayson suddenly lost confidence that Toby would let the Lore Family get away just because of Harryâs position.
Harry looked at his phone and his dark eyes were unreadable. âPerhaps itâs not only this matter with Lynette that made him refuse my call.â
âWas there something else that happened?â Graysonâs voice was raised all of a sudden.
Harry heaved a sigh. âThis morning, I went over to Fuller Group and met up with Toby, right?â
âYes, I know that.â Grayson nodded.
Harry leaned back slightly. âDuring our meeting today, I said a lot of nasty things about Sonia in front of Toby and he was very angry. He instantly escorted me out of Fuller Group. Thatâs why I reckon Toby refused my call not only because of Lynetteâs matter, but also because of the words I said to him this morning.â
âWhat should we do then?â Grayson panicked. âItâs no wonder that he would be so angry! These two matters added up are indeed a cause of anger. Dad, if we donât patch things up with Toby as soon as possible, the company will be in trouble. This afternoon, representatives from several companies called me and they probed about Tobyâs attitude toward our family. If word gets out that Toby intends to sever ties with our family, then these companies will surely come together to attack us. After all, we did offend quite a few companies in the past.â
âI donât need you to tell me all this. Iâm aware.â Harry glared at his useless and panicky son while speaking in a low voice, âDonât worry, I managed to gain such a great mentee back then, so there is no way I would allow our relationship to deteriorate.â
As soon as Grayson heard Harryâs words, he calmed down significantly. However, he was still slightly apprehensive. âToby refuses to answer our phone calls though, and he doesnât want to see us at all. We canât even locate him, so how are we going to patch things up with him?â
Harry pinched his nose bridge. âDonât worry about Toby for now. Heâs still in a fit of anger from todayâs incident, so we shouldnât bother him. Letâs give him some time to calm down. Perhaps once he calms down, he will answer our call and meet up with us. By then, it would be much easier for us to talk to him.â
âSo, are we supposed to do nothing now?â Grayson was discontented.
Harry narrowed his eyes in response. âOf course not. We should give him some time to calm down, but that doesnât mean weâre going to stand by and do nothing. Letâs go over to Fuller Residence first.â
Graysonâs eyes sparkled at the sound of that. âDad, do you intend to talk to Old Mrs. Fuller and tackle the situation by winning her over?â
Harry affirmed, âRight now, that seems to be the only thing we can do. Old Mrs. Fuller is an elder whom Toby cares the most about. Once Old Mrs. Fuller voices out, Toby would definitely agree to everything she says.â
âThis sounds like a great idea, butâ¦â Grayson scratched his head. âDad, Old Mrs. Fuller has never been too enthusiastic toward our family members, so will we succeed if we go over to see her?â
âWell, we have to give it a try, donât we?â Harry shot a look at Grayson from the side of his eyes before lowering his head and expressing calmly, âPlus, Iâm not too sure why, but I keep having an uneasy feeling, so weâve got to patch our relationship with Toby as soon as possible. Otherwise, Iâm afraid that if this persists, there will be much more terrible things to occur.â
âOkay. Letâs head over right now.â Grayson nodded and instructed the driver to start the car.
An hour later, they arrived at Fuller Residence and the duo alighted from the car to clarify their identities to the security guards.
The security guards knew that Harry was Tobyâs mentor, so they took into account Harryâs position and naturally did ont dare to delay the situation. As such, the guards reported the situation to the main house instantly.
It was past 9.00PM and Rose had just gotten ready for bed with Maryâs help. She was just about to retire to bed when there was a knock on the door.
Mary frowned in annoyance. âItâs so late. Why are the servants knocking on the door at this time of the night?â
âThere must be something urgent. Open the door, Mary,â Rose spoke with a smile as she was not bothered at all.
âThatâs alright. They can wait. Iâll help you into bed first,â said Mary as she helped Rose plump up her pillow.
Mary was insistent, so Rose went along with Maryâs words and got into bed. After Rose made herself comfortable in bed, Mary tucked her under the blanket before turning around to open the door.
