This Time, I Will Get My Divorce, Mr
Chapter 1080 Make Himself Mad
Sonia shot him an angry glare. âCanât you think any better of me?â Toby was just as furious, and Charles felt his hairs stand on end at the sight of Tobyâs face. Charles quickly waved his hand as he grinned cheekily. âOh, Sonia. Iâm sorry. I was just kidding. Donât be mad.â
âHmph!â Sonia turned around and ignored him. Toby watched as she lowered her glass of water. âIs this related to Anya?â he parted his lips to ask. Even though it was a question, his tone sounded relatively firmâit was as if he already knew the answer. After all, the only thing that could involve a trip to the station was probably the incident with Anya. Sonia was the one who made the police report.
Meanwhile, Toby was the one who filed the report against the bosses of Dwells and Squirrel Media, so the police would have contacted him and not Sonia. So, if the police called Sonia, it had to be related to Anya. As expected, Sonia nodded in agreement. âYeah. I made the report a while ago. Connor found a lawyer for Anya, so Anya hasnât been prosecuted so far. Unfortunately, Iâm not willing to give in on this matter, so the police are caught in the middle. They want me to go over to discuss how to deal with the remaining matters,â she explained.
Toby pressed his lips together as he knitted his brows while Charles placed his hands behind his head and let out a scoff. âIn my opinion, they shouldnât allow the criminal to hire a lawyer to argue for their case when all the evidence has already been produced. So even though the criminal will eventually have to pay for their acts, they get to enjoy their lives for a while more because the case is being dragged out. Thatâs so unfair,â Charles commented.
Sonia shrugged. I know, right? The evidence is all on the table. She should be found guilty immediately. But the law states that the criminal has the right to find her own lawyer to plead for a lesser sentence. So while theyâre fighting for their innocence, the criminal will only be kept in the station or the detention center. They wonât be sent to jail. The station and the detention center are both more comfortable than the jail, Sonia thought. Come to think of it; it must feel pretty bad for the victims.
âItâs fine.â Right then, Toby stuck his hands into his pants before curling his lips into a bone-chilling smirk. âSheâs going to suffer double the enjoyment she gets now once she goes to jail.â In other words, Toby would get Anya into trouble once she got into jail. Sonia and Charles both understood what Toby meant. Sonia simply raised an eyebrow without saying anything while Charles clapped his hands in excitement. âThatâs a great idea. Youâre finally doing something, Toby!â
Toby narrowed his eyes dangerously. âDo you have a death wish?â
âNo.â Charles held his hands up. âIf you donât, then you should shut up right now,â Toby hissed icily. Then, he turned to look at Sonia. âAre you heading to the police station now?â he asked. âYeah.â Sonia stretched her limbs before standing up. âI told the police that Iâd be there in an hour,â she replied. âLetâs go, then. Iâll go with you.â Toby raised his wrist to check his watch.
Sonia smiled. âSure.â
When Charles saw that the both of them had made plans, he stood up and yawned. âAlright. Since you guys are leaving, I guess thereâs no reason for me to be here. You guys can go to the station; I wonât tag along anymore. I need to go back to my own company.â
âYou shouldâve left a long time ago.â Toby tilted his head to give Charles an uninterested gaze. âWere you expecting to follow us? Arenât you embarrassed for third-wheeling us all the time?â
Tobyâs words triggered Charlesâ temper, and Charles pointed at Toby with a shaky finger. âToby, youââ
âThatâs enough.â Sonia pressed her palm against her forehead as she interrupted Charlesâ words. âYou guys should stop. Were you guys enemies in your past lives? Is that why you guys fight all the time? Charles, you should stop too. Youâre always making Toby mad when heâs not picking on you,â she said.
âSince when have I provoked him?â Charles widened his eyes as he disagreed with Sonia. Sonia ignored him before turning to look at Toby. âAnd you⦠Sometimes, Charles doesnât provoke you either, yet you keep trying to trigger him and get him met. Am I wrong for saying that?â
Toby froze before turning his head away. Sonia pointed her finger toward Charles then. Charlesâ lips twitched in annoyance as he turned away too. Both the men didnât respond to her. Sonia crossed her arms, and she gave both the men a side-eye. âWhatâs this? Why are you guys quiet? I was right, wasnât I? You guys always have a way of triggering and making each other mad.â
Both Toby and Charles couldnât argue against her words. Initially, they hadnât realized what was going on, but now that Sonia had pointed it out, they realized that what she said was true. They knew the reason they were doing itâthe reason was clear from the start. They both never liked each other, so they couldnât bear it when the other person was at peace. Once the other person was at ease, they would try to say something to trigger the other personâs temper. They would feel good about themselves when they made the other party mad.
When Sonia saw the two men lowering their heads like kids, she simultaneously felt annoyed and amused. âAlright. Letâs stop talking about this. You should head off, Charles. Thank you for today.â Charles looked up and gave her a casual wave. âYou donât have to thank me. I didnât do anything or help in any way. Iâd feel bad if you thanked me.â
Sonia smiled. âYou offered to help me, and you were worried for me. You helped me come up with an idea and made an announcement on my behalf. You helped in so many ways, so I should be thanking you. Donât you think so, Toby?â
Toby gave Charles an icy glare without disagreeing with Soniaâs words. On the contrary, he clearly agreed with Sonia. âWell, thatâs enough talk for today. Letâs go.â Toby held onto Soniaâs hand.
Sonia felt like laughing when she saw how eager the man was to leave. âAlright. Weâll leave now, Charles.â
âGo on.â Charles waved at them. âIâll have to wait for my assistant to pick me up. I drove your car to return it to you earlier, so I donât have any transport for now.â
âSure. You can wait in my office. Goodbye.â Sonia waved at him as well. However, she barely got to bid goodbye before Toby held onto her wrist and pulled her hand down to stop her from waving. Charles rolled his eyes at Tobyâs petty behavior. He doesnât even allow Sonia to say goodbye to me. This guy is so overly possessive.
Sonia was just as bothered by Tobyâs actions, but she also found it amusing. After all, she knew how petty Toby could get, especially when it was with other men. It was as if Tobyâs pettiness increased by a thousand times when it came to men. In the end, Toby dragged Sonia out of the office before driving her to the police station.
While they were going to the station, Toby started a conversation with her. âDo you think Charles will go to your secretary while heâs waiting at your office?â
Sonia had been scrolling through her phone, but she stopped and looked up when she heard his words. âDo you think Charles will go to Daphne?â
Toby nodded.
Sonia shook her head confusedly. âI donât think so. Charles hates Daphneâwhy would he go to her? Wouldnât he be causing trouble for himself?â After all, someone would only look for the person they disliked if they were sick in their heads and wanted to make themselves mad.
âWhy would you ask about this?â Sonia blinked her eyes curiously.
Toby curled his lips into a smirk without answering her question. âDid you just say that Charles hates your secretary?â
