Chapter 1076
This Time, I Will Get My Divorce, Mr
Chapter 1076 Harryâs Intentions
âWhat do you mean?â Sonia instinctively straightened her figure. Was there an argument during his meeting with Harry? That doesnât make sense. After all, heâs Harryâs favorite student, and he has always respected Harry as a teacher. So, I donât think they have a reason to be unhappy with one another. But after thinking about her conversation with Charles earlier, Sonia felt like she could guess Tobyâs answer.
âDid the conversation go bad because of me?â Sonia gazed at Toby as she parted her red lips to speak at a slow pace. Toby was silent for a while. âI knew it.â The corner of Soniaâs lips curled oddly, and no one could tell if she was happy or sad. Her response sounded pretty neutral. After all, Harry was Tobyâs teacher, not hers; Harry wasnât related to her in any way. So, she didnât really care if Harry liked her.
âWhat did you guys talk about?â Even though Sonia didnât care about what Harry thought of her, she still wanted to know what she did, which led to their miserable conversation. Toby knitted his browsâhe looked as if he didnât want to answer her for a moment. Charles rolled his eyes at this. âHey, Toby, why canât you just be honest? Whatâs wrong with telling us these things? You should say it aloud, especially since this has to do with Sonia. How did she get your teacher mad? Your teacher wouldnât dislike her for no reason, right?â
Sonia didnât say anything, but Toby could tell that she was curious, so he ended up telling her what he and Harry had talked about earlier that day. Toby didnât tell her the whole storyâhe simply gave her a summary of what happened. He even changed how Harry phrased certain things to ensure that Sonia wouldnât feel any discomfort after hearing his words. After all, Harry had been rather harsh with his words. Even though Toby was well-intentioned, the way he changed certain words made his whole story sound rather stiff and made-up. So, Sonia quickly realized that Toby hid parts of the story from her.
Judging by the way he spoke and the guilty expression on his face, Sonia could easily guess that Harry had been talking badly about her. She curled her lips into a sarcastic smirk. âItâs such a hassle for someone as well-known as Harry to bother himself with some nobody like me. He didnât just pay attention to me; he even developed a thorough understanding of me just to show that Iâm no match for you at all. It must have been tiring for that old man to do so much work,â she said in self-deprecation.
Toby was unhappy after hearing the way that his girlfriend spoke of herself. He quickly reached his hands out to turn her face so that she was looking into his eyes. âStop talking nonsense! There shouldnât be any comparisons between the both of us. To me, weâre both on the same level. Iâve clarified this to my teacher, so you donât have to worry about what my teacher said. Iâll never take his words seriously,â Toby uttered.
âHmph. How can we tell if youâre being honest?â Charles pursed his lips. Toby turned around to look at him with an icy glare. If you say one more word, Iâm going to kill you right here, Tobyâs eyes said. Charles seemed to get the message from the hateful look in Tobyâs eyes. Charles shrank away when he realized that his words had triggered Toby, and he no longer dared to say anything else after that. Toby let go of Charles after that. All along, Toby tolerated Charlesâ provocative words only because of his relationship with Sonia and the Lanes. However, Toby simply couldnât allow Charles to target his relationship with Sonia.
Charles had every reason to be grateful right then. Thankfully, I spoke in a joking tone earlier. Iâm glad I wasnât trying to stir a fight between Toby and Sonia. Toby wouldnât have let me go so quickly otherwise!
Naturally, Sonia noticed the hateful look that Toby flashed at Charles. She understood the reason for Tobyâs actions and sighed before shaking her head in Charlesâ direction. You should watch your mouth in front of him, she mouthed to Charles. She understood why Toby was so triggeredâanyone would feel annoyed if there were another person around them who constantly went against their opinions. This was incredibly frustrating when one was trying to show his genuine love and care to the other part. So, it wasnât surprising that Toby felt the urge to murder Charles right then.
If Sonia had been in the same position, she wouldâve gotten mad too. Instead, after receiving Soniaâs warning, Charles carefully drew his fingers across his lips as if to show that his mouth was zipped shut. Only then did Sonia turn her focus back to Toby. âDonât be mad. You know what Charles is like.â
Toby pressed his lips together. âI donât care about what other people think. I just want to know what you thinkâdo you think I never brought this up with my teacher?â
âOf course not.â Sonia stared at the man earnestly. âI know you wouldnât lie to me about such a thing, so I never suspected you at all. Charles was the only one who said that,â she replied. Tobyâs brows relaxed a little upon hearing her words. âThatâs good. I really told my teacher everything that I told you. After that, I told him to leave Fuller Group. Anyway, I just donât want you to worry about this. No oneâs ever going to tear us apart.â Tobyâs words were firm as he spoke. His eyes glinted with a mixture of determination and fury.
When Sonia saw the look on his face, she knew Lynetteâs actions, and Harryâs words must have infuriated Toby. That was why Toby reassured her with an icy, hateful glare in his eyes. Well, I guess I can understand how he feels. After all, it must be hard when the people around you consistently pressure you to break up with your partner. The people around him keep telling him that he chose the wrong person and that heâd break up eventually, Sonia thought. Well, I wouldnât be able to handle it, either.
âToby.â Right then, Charles, who had only been quiet for a while, spoke up again. Toby shot him an icy glare. âWhat else do you want to say? If youâre going to make some odd statement, then Iâd rather you keep your mouth shut.â
Charles spread his hands open in protest. âWhat makes you think Iâm about to say something like that? I just wanted to say that your teacher has been telling you to leave Sonia, that Soniaâs not a good woman, that sheâs not a good match for you⦠But have you considered who your teacher thinks is a good match for you?â he asked.
Sonia raised an eyebrow upon hearing Charlesâ words while Toby furrowed his brows once more. âNo,â he parted his lips to reply. It was trueâToby had never considered this question in the past. Previously, all he did was argue against his teacherâhe didnât bother to think about anything else. He wasnât interested in hearing the answer, anyway.
âItâs Miss Lore, isnât it?â Sonia said out of nowhere. Toby looked at her, and she met his gaze with a smile. âYour teacher probably wants to introduce his granddaughter to you so that you can be with her.â
âThatâs right.â Charles held his thumb up once more. âThatâs what I was thinking, too. If Harry keeps insulting Sonia, claiming that sheâs not good enough for you and telling you to break up with her, then who does he expect you to be with? Thereâs only one answerâhe wants you to be with his granddaughter. His granddaughter likes you, after all. Since his son knows about this, Iâm sure heâs aware of this as well. So, Harryâs trying to get his granddaughter the man she fancies. As a grandfather, heâd certainly support her decision and wouldnât wish to see his granddaughter sad or disappointed. He wouldnât introduce any woman other than her, would he? Furthermore, if you dated his granddaughter, it wouldnât just make his granddaughter happy; itâd also improve the Lore Familyâs reputation. This is a win-win situation for them. I bet Harryâs aware of this.â
Toby was speechless at this point. He lowered his gaze as he contemplated the other manâs words.
